Kevin, they are imported woods. The UK really only has Oak and Ash as hard woods.

Its quite old (80's) but she still shoot super smooth, a lot smoother than a Damon Howatt Monterey for example (although mine is a take down).

Stuff like this from the UK will always be expensive, but as its a niche market you will get superb kit. I think if I was buying new though I would go with a Checkmate model.
 
Checkmate supposedly makes great bows . Its the name that stops me for some reason . Maybe its because I suck at chess . Go figure .

I have heard of Border archery a few times from different sources . If a name makes it all the way from Scotland it must be good . I have never heard one complaint which is also a little unusual .
