Here's my latest bowie. I enjoy making these but I don't get to do so very often. This is also my first one with a Spanish notch which I think turned out pretty cool. The blade is 10" long, 1084 steel, the handle is African blackwood and the fittings are mild steel. I'm going to make a sheath for it tomorrow. All comments are welcome and very much appreciated. Thanks!

Beautiful.
Ray, I think you have a future in this business.

nicely done.
looking forward to seeing the sheath that complements it.

very nice... I'm about this '.' close to saying that African blackwood is my favorite knife handle wood and it looks very sweet with your lines and finish on this one.

I love it Ray very nice work the blade profile is very cool it is all very much like all your work very clean. I think it is time you Join the ABS. Three years is a long time you should start them now.

Thanks guys for the kind words.

I also want to mention that this knife was the second knife I ground on my new (used) KMG. All the grinding on this knife was done on my KMG. Those of you who know me may know that I've always ground my blades backwards with the belt going the opposite direction from normal. Now I grind the right way and I grind my blades on the tool rest using a push stick, thanks to Mike Vagnino. This is so much easier and makes much more sense. It only took me one practice blade to get used to it and this bowie is as good or better than anything I've ever done in the past.

Ray - that is really one of the best blades I have seen you post. Hard to believe that your work can get any better, but this one kicks it up a notch.

That turned out really nice. I got to see it before the handle went on, and you guys would be surprised at how nice the hidden tang looks, too. Ray doesn't miss any details.

So, Ray, are you saying that all of my knives from you that were done on your old belt sander will have to be replaced with higher quality work from your KMG? That's a tall order.
