I made this camera out of an igloo, some maple syrup, half a beaver and an eskimo

Oh, that doesn't surprise me about the calcium oxalate...they have that sort of harsh oxalic acid taste to them, pretty hard on the mouth!

That maple cream stuff is pretty good all right! And I'm always hopeful that Erin will encourage other women to adopt her style of dress...I am a big believer in eye candy!

And man, it is sure great to be back on my feet! Even if not very comfortable, it is so worth it!

Thanks guys! Glad everyone's enjoying the pics!

Wow...so that's the eastern skunk cabbage eh? That sounds worse than what we get all right! I wouldn't say this stuff is fun to eat but it sure sounds better than that Symplocarpus foetidus stuff you guys get!

"When the familiar burning occurred, he dried the remaining chips for a total of six months for further aging!"

Kinda reminds me of an attempt at a joke regarding how to prepare a Pike. It involved wrapping it in newspaper and digging a hole at the bottom of the garden...

Maisy likes the smell !!!

Another wild edible containing dangerous amounts of oxalate crystals, that grows here is Jack-in-the-Pulpit (Arisaema triphllum). According to John Kingsbury (Deadly Harvest, John M. Kingsbury, Holt Paperback, Holt Rinehart & Winston, 1972, ISBN# 0-03-091479-5) some people died when eating these plants because "the tissues about the back of the tongue swelled up and blocked breathing as a result of taking a mouthful." (page 103)

According to Euell Gibbons, you have to slice the roots of JIP very thinly, like potato chips and dry them for several months to remove the acrid properties. Every year I've been meaning to gather some, but haven't as yet.

These same properties are what make Rhubarb leaves dangerous to eat. (Deadly Harvest page101-102)

 Sweet Fender Dobro! What a coincidence. I was listening to some Tony Furtado on the way to work this morning. ;)

Thanks for the pics.

No way:eek: I JUST listened to 'These Chains' myself:thumbup:!! Tony Furtado rocks in my book Nice Dobro Bro Misanthrop!;) If you and your friend every get out to NYC I can hook you guys up with a serious guitar scene here:cool:

For those of us on the East Coast of the USA where is SFU, Fraser, etc:confused: Not familiar with the Canadian ancronisms, except for Ontario East to the Atlantic Ocean.

Nice photos, beats everything else I've laid eyes on here so far....there, there's the gauntlet folks, you got better let's see her:D Let your girlfriend know she's on the WSS hit Parade at the top of the charts:D

Misanth,

Oh, SFU: nothing special, Simon Fraser University, it's one of a couple of universities here in Vancouver. They both have pretty spectacular grounds...in fact the place jca21 originally asked me about, Pacific Spirit Park, is a big wilderness park on the grounds of the other university, UBC (U of Brit. Columbia, that's probably self explanatory.) SFU is at the very top of a large hill (or small mountain I guess) and has a lot of wild area all around it as well. To be honest there is a good reason real estate here is so outrageously expensive: it's a really, really nice place! In that first picture you can see the edge of downtown Vancouver...we are about 15 minutes outside of the downtown core there and spend all summer relaxing on the beach and swimming in the ocean! The beaches are really popular all summer, great places to be.

I'm glad everyone likes the dobro, I have to admit it looks pretty cool! I always wanted one so when I had the sudden need for plunky twang, I jumped on it!

I will jam with anyone, any time! When we finally finish laying the vocal tracks on the current project, I will maybe see about putting up a clip or two for you guys to hear...but then you'll all either like the music and think I'm cool or hate the music and I will get chased out of here with torches and pitchforks!

One thing I am proud to say: this recording, by the time we finish everything and get the mastering done, will have cost about $600...this time we just did everything ourselves and it was tough but really interesting. Thank god for the skinny dude eating the hamburger because man, I could never have figured out how to do with the sound what he does!

Also I will let Erin know she is appreciated...I know I appreciate her presence myself!

Okay, Misanthrop, how do I get in touch with you?

I can send you files of my drumming, but your email is not linked. Email me at KAPOW! I'll leave it up until you email me, then erase it from here when u do, so I am not spammed to hell...

Sooo... have you ever jammed with a juice harp player?? I have been doing some with a couple of musicians and I have to say that I am the best juice harp jammer I have ever heard.

Does Doc Canada play?? We could form the Canuk Cripples and make tons of money until we are fully healed- But I guess we would be a low energy band, and knowing our luck the stage would collapse under us.

Definitely let Erin know we appreciate an attractive woman comfortable in her skin. P.S. my email and PM's work;)

Hey, Cuts,

We can call it the Lame Canauck Band jam, eh?

Hell, I have French Canadian blood in me. I was brain injured, and you guys are limping M*er F*ers, so we have a brand AND a band...:D:D:D:D

LOL!!! beeeer, borrrr, beeeeer, borrrr...do they make other sounds than that? I'm serious, is there an actual musicianship to it? I have never given them any thought at all...well, that's not completely true. I have spent some time considering the etymology of the term "juice harp." I would guess it comes from the inexpensive nature of such an instrument...well, people weren't always as politically correct as they are today, I suppose! But other than that I have never thought about them at all, can you really play one well?

What we could do is get wheeled on stage by girls in hot nurse outfits...it happens that Erin has something ready to go, surprise surprise! I volunteer her for wheeling duty!

Hey Brian, you're a drummer, sustaining a brain injury is more like an advantage! Ouch!

My vote goes for "gimp and the limpers"

Yes there is a number of techniques to using one well. I do play fairly well- although it is hard to tell how well as I have never found another to compare to other than my brother, but from what I have been told jamming with other (real) musicians I hold my own. It actually goes really well with the twang of a guitar. Plus I am do a limited amount of Kristian unplugged mechanical voices like Framton with a juice harp.
It is actually a middle eastern instrument originally called a DugDugi! No idea how the name got changed though.

With Brian I think Gimp and the Limpers sounds good!! (so does the Erin bit!!)

Actually, that's Granville Island Maple Cream Ale (brown) and English Bay Pale Ale (blue.)

Not sure where you are but it's pretty possible those beers aren't available...that's a real Western Canada beer right there!
