I may be in the doghouse

with my large 21. She's been part of my EDC rotation since her birth in July 2009. We've enjoyed many a day and night together and she's never failed me or let me down and AFAIK she's always been faithful, cutting only for me and no other. So today how do I repay that loyalty and devotion? I ordered a new Umnumzaan:D

I've been on the fence for a long time about getting one and I'm very pleased with my current gal but ever since I got her and discovered the quality and value of a CRK blade I've been hankering for something more or at least something else. Of the various CRK models and designs it was the Umnumzaan that caught my eye first and most after getting my Sebenza so I finally decided today to make my move. Hope she'll understand and perhaps even enjoy the company of a new relative. I guess we'll know in a few days.

I'm sure some of you have been down this path already. Any advise or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. ;)

Great thread. Haha.

You did the right thing getting the Umnum. Now you need to get a couple smalls so the large can all get married. Then you will need to buy one or two Mnandi as children.

:)

You know it's funny you should say that. I was actually checking out some small Sebenzas when I ordered the Umnumzaan. :) I may have to add an addition onto that doghouse before it's all said and done.

I'm in the opposite camp, but still in the doghouse.
I just picked up a Spirograph Small off of the exchange and I can already tell that my faithful and understanding Tanto Umnum is already feeling jilted. Who can blame her, the anxiety of my addiction must be really hard on her; constantly having to deal with my tomcating around with every knife that catches my eye. I know it kills her to see me spending quality time with another blade, but even though it hurts she knows I'll always come crawling back to her- after all, we were meant to be together ;D

Congrats on the new Zaan, they're fsntastic knives.

Just leave them in the drawer together for a few days. They will eventually bond...

I have been carrying my oldest BM Mini Grip for several months now, and have five others in their respective boxes, in the drawer. It only took a couple days together in the drawer, and the fighting and squabbling finally stopped.

Congrats on the new incoming family member

I keep all my CRK's separate..They don't need to know about each other..Besides,..all they would do is look each other from lanyard to swedge and judge the jimping that the other is wearing.

I'm guessing yours are all female :D

Just checked my order and tracking shows Monday delivery so I'm even more stoked. I actually had an Umnumzaan on order a few years ago, they were out of stock at the time and talked myself into canceling the order. Funny how things work out in the end.

The way I smoothed it over with my darlings was to let them know they have equal rotation time, so one won't be worked too hard and feel worn out. They do however like to brag about the scars they have.:)
The Umnumzaan surprised me, it has easily become one of my favorite work knives along with the 25. The swedge has been useful in my work for scraping pipe and stuff.

Some people would think a group of grown men, talking about their knives like they are people, is odd lol :D

hah you make a valid point. If my wife read this thread she would, at the very least, give me "the look":disillusionment:

Not the best photos. I'm so very pleased with this blade. Thought my Sebby was da bomb but this one is even better if that's possible.
