Well, it may have finally happened... After many successful trades I traded with someone here on the forum (I don't know his BF handle) and have had no response from him two weeks after he acknowledged receiving my knife. He won't answer emails and I can't find a phone number for the address I mailed to. Any ideas on how to follow up on this or did I throw a $90 knife down the drain?

Bummer! Let's hope that he is just bad at answering his correspondence & not actually trying to rip you off.

Not that it would help you to recover or be compensated for your knife, but if you provide Mike or Spark with his e-mail address they may be able to give you his BF name. Maybe a public appeal to him to live up to his end of the deal might help. If nothing else, it could serve to forewarn other forumites about doing business with him. Good luck.

Depending on the outcome we may be able to stop this from happening again.

Please email us the other partied email address and will will search our records.

Since you said "mailed" I am guessing you used United States Postal Service for this transaction. Contact the postal inspector in the town you sent the knife to, they don't mess around. Just call the Post Office in the town you sent it to and ask to speak to the Postal Inspector. I had to turn in an individual once and not only did I get my money back, but he got to make little rocks out of big rocks for 6 months.

One additional thing I have started to do to protect myself lately is that I send my payment registered so I get a signature. My banker tells me that stealing a postal money order is a federal offense and to have a signature on the card can't hurt and may in fact force them to finish the deal. The registered letter cost less than a buck.

I hope you get your payment. Please keep us posted.

Well, the guy finally showed up, by email, saying that he had been out of town on business and had completely forgotton to send me my trade. Now we wait......
