I meant to ask what the recesses on the Temperance were not the Meerkat. I was looking at both and got confused.

Redbyrd - The cut-outs are approximately where your fingers will end up. The theory is more grip/control over the handle. This one doesn't "slip" out of your "paw".

I also wanted to nest the compression lock and liners so we're using a thicker layup of G10. Should be a very strong rigid piece.

It's actually a big 3" knife.
