I have not been around much and for that I am sorry

I have done a lot of writing on the Internet of my good friend Bill Bagwell and his knives. What I have recieved from that besides just the enjoyment of spreading the word on my friend and his wonderful work is the great people I have met

A lot of people contact me about his work and I never mind relaying a message or getting them in touch with Bill and answering questions to my limited ability.

I truly enjoy it and I have made some great friends

Well I think I have made a new friend :)

Bills knives seem to attract a rough and tumble crowd that covet high performance blades

When Johny Fortuny of Spain reached out to me I new I had just meet someone such as myself

He is a hunter and outdoorsman and a lover of all things quality when it comes to steel and firearms

We exchanged some pictures and I will post more from him when I get them. Hopefully he will come on here and say hello

Anyone that has seen me with my shirt off knows I have more tattoos than I need and a tatoo is what makes Johny maybe the ultimate Bagwell fan :)

Joe, you have definitely found a soul mate. Whoever did that Bagwell tatoo is an artist--uncanny how he/she captured the texture of the stag. I bet the absence of scopes on those rifles would draw a big grin from Billy B. :D

That is a great tattoo of a knife!

So many times, I see tattoo's of knives that look like kids, or monkeys drew them. Even if the artist renders the drawing exactly as you give it to him, he still needs a good drawing to make it work.

I would recognize that tattoo as a "Bagwell" without being told, so the artist did a great job (whomever drew it, and of course whomever tattooed it!).

Will you are right about the stag

Bill commented to me about his choice of iron sights :)

I have found more than a few Europeans that use iron sites exclusively. One was in a sheep camp he was shooting a 7X 57 and cut bullet holes at 100 yds Truly a remarkable shot . I have seen Bagwell do he same and at greater range

I use iron sights on all my dangerous game rifles except my 375 and that has quick mounts My slug gun for deer is an old Belgian Browning with a Hastings barrel with express sings and a large ivory bead Come to think of it I have killed a lot of game with iron sites as a kid it is all we had and as an adult lots a deer and many big game heads as well

My kids all learned on irons as I believe all kids should

Don't get me wrong I love optics on guns but for some situations and fast gun handling ya can't beat iron sights

For years my go-to scout rifles were a 1895 Marlin in .444 Marlin and a .308 ultralight built on a Remington Model 7 action that Dennis Bell (Bell & Carlson) built for himself, both with Williams receiver peeps with insert removed for super-quick "ghost ring" target acquisition--very intuitive and easy to shoot with both eyes open. Both would cut cloverleafs at 50 yds, which was all the work I needed from either. I've since sold off the Bell and swapped out the .444 for a .45/70, but I still miss that ghost-ring sight picture. Fun stuff.

Some great looking pieces, (both knives and firearms) .

Joe- Quick question. Would you happen to know the make and model of the rifle in the first picture?

Thanks,

Brandon

My man Will knows his guns

I have three Blasers and all have proven to be great shooters

Here is my Blaser double

GREAT thread! Johny definitely seems like a soul mate Joe!

Welcome to the forum Johny. Hope to see more pictures of your knives, guns, hunts.

:thumbup: on iron sights. No doubt in some situations optics are FAR superior, but for quickness of sighting....iron sights can't be beat!

Last knife with the wild boar is a wild damascus camp knife from my bro from holland gudy van popple, one of the greatest makers from europe.
The rifles from my photos are one blaser r-98 7mm rem mag without scope because the place was very very close of brush and i shoot a doble boars and was two fisrt shoots on a new rifle.
The other is a old 444 marlin with a old tasco red point.

Johny glad to see you here and welcome to Bladeforums

Great group of people here that I am sure would enjoy seeing more of your pics
