I need a 2, 2-1/2" blade - How's the Kershaw Scallion?

Scallion is fine. The Cold Steel Mini Lawman may be another choice to consider and maybe a Spyderco Lava if you can still find one.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm sure all knives mentioned are terrific and there is time for a few more! I wanted to try a small Kershaw so I hit the "Buy-it-now" for one of these OD green babies. $36 is certainly no loss.

I like the Scalion but I wish they would ditch the recure like blade and replace it with a blde like the Leek.

If your looking to get a small AO, then the Scallion is a great buy. I don't carry mine much but it's still a good little knife.

The scallion is a great little knife. I have 4 of them, no regrets. The one I like the most is the 1620FL (I think that is it), just like the chive but bigger. It is the frame lock version.

I am a huge fan of Kershaws small Ken Onion AO's, and I think the Scallion is one of the better ones. Its small enough to be pocket portable, has great ergonomics, and the AO is very smooth and easy to operate. I can play with it all day without it making my finger tip sore. Sharpens easy, and cuts most light duty tasks pretty easy.

For larger knives, I keep bouncing back and forth between my Kershaws and Spydercos, but its clear for me on the small knives, Kershaw has great customer service, low prices, made in the USA, and imo has better looks/style, if that means anything to you (this is for their small knives, I actually like the uglier/more industrial look of the Spydercos on large knives, minus the gorgeous Tyrades).

I like mine for small cutting tasks but be careful check your states laws they might be considered a dangerous knife because of the assisted opening they are classified that way in my state. :grumpy:

rainbow scallion here...and love the recurve blade; makes the scallion quite distinctive from the rest of the 2.5" pocket knives out there...

I got the Scallion and it seems like a great little knife. I really like the dark OD Green and they seem harder to find then any other color. I haven't used a liner lock in ages so I'll have to get used to it. The lock seems plenty stout especially for a short blade.
