I am just getting into knife making and bought a $40 HF sander and it has not made it through the first knife. I am 70 years old and live only on SS so I can't afford a lot. I am looking at a Grizzly H7760 right now and was wondering if anyone has tried it. I probably want make but 10 knives a year so the $400-$500 are now in the contest. I would appreciate your help.

I would keep your eye on Craigslist. Many times you can find a well priced 1x42 or a 2x48.

I use the HF grinder too. using good quality ceramic belts makes a difference in grinding over cheap ao ones. That being said I'm planning on upgrading soon. I have no personal experience with the grizzly, but based on the posts and modifications one can do to it, I would recommend the craftsman 2 x 48. seems like many people use them with great succes.
