I need a feather weight

I just lost my Deejo 37 gram with the 5 inch blade. I loved the weight. It was a folder, and the blade was almost stiletto. But not quite. It didn't have a thumb stud and you couldn't flip it open - didn't like that at all.
I need to replace the Deejo. So I would like the knife to be two oz. or just barely heavier at most. I want open assist, or a thumb stud, or a flipper. Flipper preferred. I like the thin almost stiletto blade, no shorter than 5 inches.

Suggestions Please.

I don't think you'll get a 5 inch blade for that weight, easy one hand operation, modern lock etc.

The lightest folder I can think of is the Benchmade 530 which is 1.8-1.9 oz and the Benchmade 531 which is 2.1 oz. They have a 3.25 inch blade however.

Some full carbon fiber knives with a very thin titanium liner and a titanium/CF composite blade can be around 2 ounces, but these also have around a 3.5 inch blade. They are also very expensive and do not cut very well.

That's a tall order! I can't think of anything that light with a flipper or spring assist. If you can deal with traditional knives (and blades under 5") , Jim Dunlap makes custom liner-less folders. Mine weighs exactly 27.85 grams and is weightless in the pocket.

OK, five inches is too long. I would be happy with 3.75 to 4 inches. Good suggestions so far.

That's still a pretty tall order lol!:)

The ZT 0454/0452 has what you want (flipper and a 4.1" blade) but they're around 4oz I think. The Deejo has such a unique, lightweight design, it's hard to match the size/weight ratio to other knives. The Deejo may be one of the very few knives that stand up to those specs.

The boker urban trapper is 3.5" VG10 blade with titanium frame flipper that weighs 50 grams. I love to carry mine when I need something light.

Come to think of it, Al Mar's UltraLight series might have what you're looking for. You should check them out:thumbup:

Spydie Stretch. This thing disappears in my pocket, slices like mad, has the best ergos of any of my knifes, sharpens easily, and the lock type & liners make it strong as all hell. This is a folder that you could rely on when the world ends. IMO it's the best "inexpensive" EDC knife out there. But it's still 96 grams or 3.4oz.

My Stretch see's a lot of pocket time, and I own Hinderer, Chris Reeve, Strider, etc...

Spyderco Endura with a full flat grind is super light. A very slicey-pokey blade.

Not assisted, and not a flipper, but with a little wearing in, opens just as fast.

Ok, all these that are being suggested now starting to sound good. Starting my research! Keep 'em coming. THANKS

My featherweight is the Manix II Lightweight - 3.0 ounces, 3-3/8" blade (3" cutting edge b/c of the choil), and with a little practice it flicks out faster than most spring-assists and auto's:

The only thing lighter that I have is the standard Kershaw Skyline - 2.5 ounces, 3-1/8" blade, and it's all cutting edge. You might want to look at some of the Al Mar stuff, too, because they're pretty light and long as well.

Well I know it doesn't completely fit your criteria, but I don't believe that there is a knife that is as large and lightweight as the Spyderco Military. It has a 4 inch blade and weighs 4 ounces, but what you have to take into consideration is that it doesn't really get better than the Military as far as size and weight go.

OK, I've ordered a cold steel 4 inch AUS8 blade Ti Lite. It is flipper with ball bearing pivot. Its 3.5 oz. It s very similar to The boker urban trapper is 3.5" VG10 blade with titanium frame flipper that weighs 50 grams, posted above. Its what caught my eve and started me researchin' the similar style. its on the way, ill let you know after I use it a while

I might be wrong, but I don't think the Ti Lite has bearings, or is intended to be a flipper. I think those are meant to be opened with the thumbstud or like emersons wave feature. Not that it matters, but I figured I'd tell you so you're not disappointed when you get it.
