I need a fixed blade!!

Hi guys,
I want a fixed blade!

For what?
What price range?
What size range?

My fixed blade collection is pretty small, but if its a small fixed EDC/neck knife, my Izula is pretty incredible. My Gerber Big Rock was cheap, but seems pretty well built for a mid size outdoorsy knife, and I hear good things about Becker BK-2s for more heavy duty outdoor work. For the big choppers, I don't know enough to really recommend anything.

The search function is your friend, in addition to a perusal of the other threads in here. Though, YOU'LL probably want a Nimravus, Nimravus Cub, CSK, or Fixed Rant.

We like parameters to help us recommend good fixed blades - specify! :D

That said, heck with it. Get a Becker BK2 first then if you need something bigger, smaller, cheaper, more costly, etc. we can work from there.

Have you seen the forum area, For Sale by Maker? Lots of great-looking fixed blades listed there regularly.

Additionally, I'm an owner/fan of the fixed blades knives from: Canal Street Cutlery, Buck, Ahti, Karesuando, Mora, Ek, Helle, Marttiini, Northwoods, Bark River, Becker, Anza...

Check out this topic in the Traditional section, "Lets See Your Fixed Blades..." If you can't find something you like within, there's not much hope. :)

Might help us if we new what you were going to use it for. Is it for EDC use? Hunting? Skinning? Wood Carving? A "cool" one to show your buddies? Or do you just want one to fondle while you are sitting by the computer?

Help us, help you.:)

My random fixed blade recommendation: Brian Andrews Custom Bushcrafter

Big bastard: ESEE Junglas
Smaller: Bark River Woodland Special
Pocket EDC: Bark River Bravo Necker or Izula

All are useful, working knives.

Strider EB-S (spearpoint) or EB-T (Tanto). Excellent small blade with a nice full flat grind and very grippy G10 slabs.

Without any details I would recommend one of the fixed blade knives that I use most. Timeless design and very inexpensive

That's a good suggestion, but (and I think Nutnfancy would agree with me here) the ounces are just WAY TOO MANY for convenient urban tactical defensive/emergency field use. The new advanced polymer model cuts down on the weight and the black coating helps prevent rust and makes it more suited to today's extreme armchair operators.

Becker BK5, Magnum Camp Knife. Most useful all-around pattern I can think of. Big enough for medium camp work, thin enough for kitchen chores, light enough to actually carry with you, and easy enough to sharpen. Have a leather sheath made. Put the micarta handle scales on it.

It is definitely over my weight limit, but I carry mine on a tactical vest so I don't feel the weight that much. As for the color, you're right again, but this is my extra blade. I always buy multiples and the one that I usually use I duracoated in tactical desert brown. Unfortunately it was lost in a pile of potato skins (I guess I've done a good camo job). I didn't have time to do the other one because it takes like a day to duracoat the thing. I'm thinking about sending it to the man himself, hope he won't charge too much for the job.

You should list your intended price range, desired size, and what you want to use it for. So many options, we really need more specifics.
