alright so while im still deciding on the bravo-1, id' figure i would look for a nice folding saw to cut trees and such. since i dont know how to sharpen saws, im looking for a nice sized folding saw that will do the job and has a good locking mechanism. its gotta stay sharp, and i shouldnt need very little time to cut through a, lets say 3 inch in diameter branch.

I have a gerber folding saw that is outstanding. comes w/ 2 blades and works very well. silky saws are tha shiz too!!

I think everyone here is probably going to say silky. I havnt ever used one. I looked atsome but there are several variations I don't know which one is best suited for the outdoors.

For outdoors, and you choose the Gomboy (Good choice by the way), I would prefer the coarse. I have both, amongst other Silky saws. I don't think you'll regret your choice.

I don't own a silky, but have read a lot of good things here. I do own the Fiskars 'collapsible' saw and definitely can recommend it. Great little saw, very lightweight.

Get the large teeth. And you will be happy with any of their folding saws.

I think the locking mechanism on the Pocketboys and a couple other of the folders seem to be a little stronger than the Gomboy ones.

Check out Silky Store they just redid their site and there is lots of new stuff. http://www.silkystore.com/

Let me know if you have any more questions.

That Gomboy is big. The pocketboy 170 with coarse teeth will handle 3" branches.

I picked up a Pocketboy 170 Large Teeth. It fits the pack nicely. Too much bigger than the 170 and I'd have a tough time carrying it.

My son has a Silky pocketboy 130 with large teeth and really likes it. I plan to get myself a 170 soon.

I have a Gerber, the kind that the blade come out the front, and it is great, been with me on every hunt/camp and I use one around the yard . worth every penny.

Those silky's look pretty cool, maybe next one...

I've got both sizes of the Silkey Pocketboys, the 130 and the 170. For most treks I take along the 130 as a backup to my bush knife. If I know I'm going to be working with wood I take the larger 170. Very pleased with both.

Silky... I have a Gomboy. With a good fixed blade and my silky I haven't a need for
an Axe.

Opinel is the only one I've used, but its not spendy and does a fine job.
