I need a knife for a friend in the army

i think i like the rat 1 folder idea best.

i would love to get him something "nicer" or "cooler" but i know him too well to buy him a grip, or a salt. i would love to give him a salt because i love mine. it has been my work knife for a long long time now. but he is not the guy who uses the right tool for any job. lol. its just who he is. and i would rather buy him something he will love and if he breaks it using it as a screw driver like he loves to do ill just ship him out a new one.

like i said i would really like to get him something awesome, but if i did i wouldnt want it to be stolen. if it does get stolen i can ship him out a new one. or see what he can carry and go from there. i dont want to buy him a pocket brick like the adamas even though i love mine. i know weight is everything when you have a pack e but for now, knowing him i think a rat 1 folder might be a really solid choice. with a little pocket sharpener.

thanks alot for all the great ideas guys

The Rc of the salt is not that high on the plain edge, any stone will do.

My brother is a marine who just returned from Afghanistan. I sent him some cheap crkt folders to take with him. He didnt want anything nice or expensive. He broke one and lost the other. He mainly used them to open MREs and to dig in the sand for IED wires. So what ever you give him will be trashed. I'd suggest a small full tanged knife like a Ka-Bar ESEE Becker Eskabar BK14 there about 40-50 bucks light weight easy to sharpen and will last a little longer than a rat 1.
