I know absolutely nothing about multi tool knives, and I have done some research but still I need this thread. I am looking for a stylish multi tool that is not super bulky and does have a knife. I hope you all can help out here. Also the knife is easy access.

Leatherman Charge TTi, great function and durability, S30V blade with easy access.
Swisstool X, think swiss army knife with pliers, blade is not easy accessed.

Stay clear of the SOG multi tools and any china made no name brand ones.

What is wrong with SOG multi-tools?

I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with SOG multi-tools, that actually seems to be one of the segments of SOG that survived the sell out. (Edit: Or at least they survived better, it seems the parts are now made in Taiwan and assembled here. It's still a step up from Gerber.)

I would get a Leatherman Wingman or Sidekick. They are not too bulky, made in the USA, and priced extremely well (pretty much a miracle if you ask me).

Leatherman Juice S2 for an easy carrying medium sized tool.
+1

I actually really like the pliers on my SOG, and its smoothness and ease of use puts most of my LM's to shame.
However, I know I can depend on the Leatherman tools for years to come.
If you're looking for stylish, easy carrying, and medium-size you can't beat the Juice.
Plus, the blade is accessible without opening up the handle.
Pick your favorite color and "accessory" tools - it's out there. My two Juices are my most used MT's.

If price is a factor, it's hard to beat the Leatherman Wingman, which has all the features you want. If you can afford to spend more, the Leatherman Charge TTI has better blade steel and is a bit more stylish. Both have easy access, one-hand-opening blades that lock.

Check out the Victorinox Spirit X,the quality is excellent! It also has all the tools on the outside.

+ 1 on the Vnox spirit X. this is my multi tool and I love it. its definitely sleek and stylish, the fit and finish is great, the tools are all locking which in my opinion is a great feature and the pliers are smooth as all heck. also comes in a real smart looking carry pouch

Another vote for the Juice. I prefer the S2 because I don't need the corkscrew. :)

The Juice S2 is at the top limit of pocket carry, but you get a great set of tools. For belt carry I would pick the Charge AL. I see them as low as $80 now and that's a good buy.

Hello,

I figured I'd hijack this thread instead of making a new one. I'm looking for a decent multi-tool that is completely stainless that won't corrode on me. Weight isn't really a factor as it's going to be in my tackle box. This will be my first multi-tool and it won't see the type of use that an EDC would do, but when I do need it I'd like it to be fit for fight. <$80 would be nice.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Pia

any one you get is going to corrode on you if you dont take care of it. if you are useing it aroung sea water you need to get it wash and dryed off before putting it up.

You need something by Victorinox. As richard thurman notes, you'll probably want to regularly rinse it if it's spending a lot of time around salt water. But Victorinox products are mighty damn corrosion resistant.

Leatherman Wave is a great product. For years now it's the only full-sized multi-tool I've owned ...... and I've never felt under-multi-tooled. :)

Pretty much everything, at least in my experience. The blades have side to side and up and down play, they also open from the wrong side of the handle so you can't even press the blade flat on the cutting surface, without extending the handle below the cutting surface... To even access the tools or blades you have to lift up flimsy scales that always pop off when you don't want them too. The only thing the SOG multi tools have going for them are the pliers and that is only because of the compound gears.

Leatherman and Victorinox both make quality products with functional tools and descent quality blades... both with reasonably easy to access blades.

I've been carrying a Wave as my first and only multi-tool, and I could not be happier with it. I would also totally agree that I never feel under equipped with my Wave by my side.
