I need a new drill press

I normally drill pilot holes if I am going to end up with anything in the 1/2 range. But in knife making I have never drilled a half inch hole. A quarter inch is usually the top end.

Hmmm, I'm wondering if the HF with a better chuck would work. I've been noticing that cheap chucks tend to wobble a lot.
