I need a new watch

I am also a big fan of G-shocks. I have been wearing one for a long time. Any model seems tough. I definitely give my watch a workout. I do not like anything shiny on my watch so I stick with the all black models. I have had a few buddies get the suuntos and they did nothing but complain.

Timex Ironman.

Not only has lap and stopwatch, but it will do intervals. So you can set it to beep at intervals of 10 seconds, then 60 seconds, then 10 seconds, and so on. It's awesome for fartlek sprints. It keeps you on a nice steady pace.

I wear an Ironman also and it is great...

I've worn a G-shock every day for near on 5 years and as a landscaper it cops dust, concrete, water, mud, jackhammers and power tool usage, gettin wacked regularly, about three years ago I sent it back as I thought the seals were shot and the woman wrote on the docket "Condition: Poor" three years on it's still going strong and I'd hate to see what she'd write now. ;)
I have been keen to get my hands on a suunto core, I doubt it would be able to handle the same conditions as the G but for hiking and non-work stuff it seems like it would be OK

I had a g shock atomic solar. It never told the right time. I ended up throwing it on the lawn somewhere. I saved for quite awhile to buy it, thought that the combination of solar and atomic would be the end-all of watchdom. No such thing.
I bought a seiko 'black monster' to replace it. Best watch I have owned to date. All stainess automatic dive watch.
If you liked analog, I'd recommend it without reservation.

I love my G-shocks. I think my favorite thing about them is the bezel protects the crystal - no more scratched crystals for me, solar power so you never need a battery, many have stopwatches and timers (I like having both), and they keep better time than any mechanical.

My Suunto is the x9i....crazy expensive, and cool too. :D

I'm interested in the G-Shocks guys...but there are too many options to choose from!! I'm confused by the website...

now I'm looking at the Casio Pathfinders....better options for me...I guess they're "not as tough"?!?

Tough enough for me! Though the face is bigger (more surface area with damage potential) and they may not have the shock resistant module carrier.

Broos: I'd like to know which current-production Gs have atomic solar with stopwatch and countdown timer. If there is one I missed it and I need it. :D

I think th Pathfinders aren't as overbuilt as the G-Shocks but that doesn't really mean not as tough overall. It depends on the reliability of the electronics, not just the physical shock-absorbtion of the case. I have a Pathfinder now, but I haven't had it long enough to know how long it will hold up. I am hell on watches, though, always was.

Esav - you and me, too...I am tough on everything actually...either that or I "just don't take care of my stuff"....probably both. :D

My grandfather was a jeweler. He brought us a steady stream of old watches when we were growing up, to replace the ones we trashed. I finally learned to wear a watch inside my wrist, where it doesn't get banged into everything. But I can almost tarnish gold when I sweat, so watches don't stand a chance. The plastic bodies hold up better than the metal against sweat.

My daughter just got me that Pathfinder. One of the PAW-1300 series. I really like the way it works. It's easy to read even in dim light -- for a miracle, the night glow button is easy to find and really lights up the screen, which has good big digits and good contrast.

One more thing about the Pathfinder is it seems to reset itself no matter where I put it, even in a desk drawer. The Tough Solar could be finicky -- sometimes it needed to be put near a window.

I got a nice deal on a Suunto Vector a few years ago, and that's been my beater watch ever since. But I need a flashlight to read it at night! :D

Dang....I'm Jonesin for a Pathfinder BAD now...!!!

:D

+1 on the pathfinder PAW-1300T. I got ]it just before my latest deployment to Afghanistan. It is awesome. The Barometer is dead on (as are all the other options) I switched to it from a Suunto Advizor. Basically I liked the look of the titanium watch over the tacticool black suunto.

Anyways, it turned out I love it for it's functions as well!!!

Definite big thumbs up.

Swatch Skeleton $50.00 Rare and really how many swatches do you see anymore. It's half analog and half digital... SEE THE BATTERY! :D

I still use my 9 year old titanium Citizen solar tech 180 and still works great(never stopped even after a few months stored) and the luminova still shines bright at night. Of course, it is analogue!
