I need a watch...

A Swiss-made Tissot brand... they make Omega's movements or vise-versa.

My favorite brand, and well made.

Tisscot and Omega are both owned by Swatch Group. Neither is considered a "manufactories", one who manufactures the entire watch. Swatch Group as a whole is, of course, a manufactory. The movements for both are probably made by ETA, the Swatch Group's major maker of mechanical movements.

Gollnick,

It's been forever and a day since I've seen you on here man... Do you not post on the main general discussions forum?

Wow... well, thanks for the advice though, and see ya around. Will you be the first one to hit 20,000 posts. I believe that warrants you a free knife or something, lol.

Ryan

P.S. You didn't really say what you thought about them...

I'll second any Citizen Eco-drive suggestions. Got one for my 21st from my old man and I can't bare to take it off.
And I don't have to because the batteries never die.

+1 for Seiko (mine is the SKX 171K) another plus is they are a very comfortable watch to wear long term desite the bulk. A great case design. Mine has also been to hell and back in the last 10 years.

If two blunt, no-bull, 'call a spade a bloody shovel' west aussies (BlueyM and I) reckon they're good then they must be :p

You know it, Ming. BTW, any crayfish in the fridge?

Seiko divers watches are seriously good "hard use" watches in my book. I have a very nice Citizen Eco Drive (S/S, black face, screw down crown, etc) but I wouldn't trust it in the sea, or when shooting shotguns, chopping wood or riding a dirt bike.

My Seiko has done all that and more and never missed a beat.

Bit chunky and ugly, but that matches the owner.:)

Nah Mate - didn't even put the pots out this year. I was away too much. I did get a few with the cray-hook in January in Binningup. But they are long gone.

Being a fussy bastid who likes things to just work I've played with quite a few watches. Got a few G-shocks - if I'm going overseas I tend to wear one of these because they're disposable. But on my recent India trip I forgot to make the switch and wore my Seiko the whole way.

I had a personal training client (back when I was super-fit and training all the Cottesloe/Dalkieth set) give me an Omega SMP one christmas (she was a Brothel Madam:eek: ) As these are now $4k+ new I tend to leave that one in the drawer. The Omega s a good watch of course but still not as comfortable as the Seiko.

So for me, overall, the Seiko can't be beat. Unlike Bluey I take mine off before I chop wood or hit a punching bag, but that's about the only deference I make to the automatic mechanism. I ordered 3 rhino straps from the web and rotate these every few weeks and throw them in the wash with my clothes to avoid the smell.

I own an Omega SeaMaster and A Tag Heuer Chrono and love both of them. But those are quite a bit More then your budget, If I had to buy a new watch for under 500 clams now there would be no doubt about it.... Visit MTM's website, these are the watches all the guys I know in Tac Units and the 'Teams' wear..not a flashy watch, doesnt have Navy Seal emblazoned on it, but I know several Teams guys and they wear em.

Eco-Zilla. That's my next purchase watch-wise. Have a Skyhawk eco-drive that only gains about 3 seconds a year. I don't know if there are any depth problems with an eco-drive but my divin days are few and far between and basically limited to snorkeling and swimming.

which one is that? did a search for ecco zilla and couldn't find anything
