I Need advice for a Quality Tomahawk

. . . or if you don't mind the wait Fort Turner. . .

I certainly agree that selecting Ft Turner will result in a lengthy wait. Ordered a Camp Hawk, leather sheath and extra handle from Ft Turner on January 17 after receiving an email indicating they would ship ten days from receipt of order. Nothing yet. Last email from Dana said they would ship week of March 11. Didn't happen. At this time my emails go unanswered.

Anyone out there receive anything from Ft Turner lately?

:(

Sound advice Cold Steel or if you don't mind the wait Fort Turner. You don't want to spend a lot of cash for a custom until you know what you really want. One more custom nobody mentioned Wolf Creek Forge .

Yes sir it's a Wolf Creek she also will make whatever you would like. Copy the picture and email her sure she would make one for you.

I like the RMJs. Here's mine. Not the best picture, but it's one of the only one's I have.

That shrike is a magnificent work of art. Man, how I wish I owned one. I will be searching vigorously, every day on the forums until one pops up for a decent price for as long as I need to.

I once had the chance to handle a Sayoc from Daniel Winkler. His stuff is nice too, but no where close to RMJ's tomahawks in my opinion.

I agree that the RMJ is very nice. That is the Shrike S13. The craftsmanship on the Winkler is better in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, they are both incredibly nice. but two different animals. I think they are both better that the other in different ways. Does that make sense.

I would not sell either and I plan on purchasing other models in the future.

According to the FT website they are seriously backlogged with orders. Didn't stop me from ordering another one. I reckon I'll probably get it sometime in May. I have plenty of other tomahawks to use until then.

Craig Barr makes a nice hawk. I have an older model of his and use it pretty regularly.
You can modify any hawk to exactly what you want if you find one that's close to begin with.

The Two Hawks Woodsman might be right up your alley. It's a lot like the Trail Hawk, but the hammer poll is shorter. If you want something a little heavier, their Longhunter is another option which is also flat across the top.

Just did a search for tomahawk in the knifemakers for sale area; fixed blades, and a bunch of wolf creek forge hawks came up in just the style you are looking for, very nice stuff. All sold but if she is putting them up for sale then that means no backlog and waiting time for you.

Just found a video of one of their hawks.

I like the wolf creek forge so far. I picked up a cold steel trail hawk to play with. I think i'll keep an eye out for a wcf of the right style.

I've decided The trail hawk is not for me. I love throwing it But for actual usage, the blade easily misses and the handle gets damaged when it impacts an object. I ended up picking up an estwing sportsmans axe after my brother got one. Its got a fine balance and chops well. And it cant be damaged from a missed chop.

I've been pondering still on a good hawk. I still have the estwing hatchet. It is great. I polished the head and lessened the cutting angle, it takes a razor edge. Im very careful with it however So as not to damage the edge. I have a craftsman hatchet also now. I polished it's head. I dont use it, and dont really care for it. Its just a spare.
