I need help

Case has knives in black G-10 or carbon fiber that are black handled. I really like my Peanut in CV, I've been carrying it over my Stockman

Ooh, I almost forgot. I'm not too sure what color it was, but I saw a case mini trapper that had a wharncliff blade instead of the spey. It's in SS though. lol, I have been looking around for it myself.

My problem is that I can't seem to find a perfect everyday carry knife. I really liked the Buck 301 but the weak springs are getting to me. The Vic Pioneer is also awesome but I'd prefer something a little more stylish. I guess I'm looking for a relatively slim and light pocket knife at about 3 and 3/4" closed with at least 2 blades. Ideally black/silver although other colors are nice too. I just like natural colors and smooth scales. It doesn't have to be expensive but should be very durable and excellent everyday knife. The quality is also important. The Vic Pioneer (or Electrician) would be perfect if it only looked a little more elegant.

Sounds like you prefer 2 blades to 1. That's a good thing to know about yourself (I'm the opposite).

Regarding your Buck, you might give them a call to see if they can address the weak springs. They have great customer service. How do the weak springs affect your use of the knife? Does the blade feel insecure when you use it? Or just prefer a stronger pull? Is there any other issue with your 301? Sounds like it's near the top of your list, and for good reason. Lots of folks like those knives.

I'd be curious to hear more about your Case Jr. Stockman and why that isn't at the top of the heap for you? What's not doing it for you with that knife?

Regarding the Vic Pioneer, I think the Inox version looks classy as heck, certainly a massive step from their plastic, which causes me to gag involuntarily. That might an option for you.

If you like the spear point blade of the Pioneer and you want natural scales and a (relatively) thin profile, the pattern you might look at is the Canoe.

I have some of the ones you have and like them a lot too....although not 3.75" long, the CASE 2 blade jack is a super daily carry knife. It is relatively thin, has a clip and thin pen blade, smooth black derlin panels and nickel silver bolsters with brass liners. Walk and talk is impressive on mine-SNAP! I paid $33-ish at a popular farm and tractor type store. It is 3-3/8" long closed, but disappears into your pocket like a Case peanut...some specs and model number below... good luck!
3 3/8" Closed, 1.8 oz.
Pattern 22087 SS

I recently picked up a Boker smooth red bone Copperhead and it's a pretty good knife for the money. The size is right and it has two blades. Might work for you.

I actually misspoke. I have a case sodbusters not stockman. I was thinking of a case medium stockman but I worry that it would feel too dainty and fragile.
The 301 just doesn't feel secure with the weaker springs. I had already sent it to buck and it came back the same.

I find the issue of feeling dainty and fragile (for me) is related to fit in the hand. I have big hands, and prefer a larger grip. I can deal with large in the pocket, even more so if it is thin.

How do you like the Sodbuster in your hand?

If you like both the Sodbuster and the Pioneer, maybe you're looking for a thicker, rounder knife?

I like the pioneer Alox in my hand and the sodbusters too, I do, however, feel that the sodbuster is a tad too thick in my pocket.

Hi All,

last week I found a Boker Tree Brand Stockman for a great deal so I ordered it. I then realized that it may be one of the ones that are not fully made in Germany so I changed my mind and wanted to get the Boker Beer Barrel Canoe instead ('cause i like Beer :) m). The deal went through since that US seller doesn't sell Bokers to Canada.
I then realized that, in a long run, I'd likely be better off getting something I really want so I went with a GEC Toothpick In Ebony:
(non BF dealer member link removed).

Thank you all for your advice!
I'll post the pics once I get it :)

Cheers,

R.
