I need help from serious knife people only

Thanx for the feedback guys! There is no way im going to practice convex sharpening on my new f1. Besides, with the 3g steel i dont think i will need to any time soon! I just tested it out on some pine outback. Cut up a few branches, shaved some kindling, and hammered straight through some of the bigger branches, cutting them into halves then quarters. It was effortless. I then retested it on my firesteel and it works really well! only down side is that it left some black marks on the knife but they came out with some elbow grease. Now back home, and it is still RAZOR SHARP! Im going to practice on a cheap softer steel but obviously with a convex edge too.

To finally clarify, the machete is my main chopper, but during trips where I wont be able to bring it with me, I am now more than confident the f1 will do just fine. As for the diving, I will get a specific knife just for that. I was thinking about the spyderco Aqua salt...as for the next one...Bark River Bravo 1 perhaps ;p

OOOOK, quick question while on the subject of convex sharpening... I have read, and watched videos, about how to convex sharpen. However, on the fallkniven website and instruction pamphlet that comes with the fallkniven dc4, its says:

"Start by laying the blade flat on the stone, raise the blade spine approx. the thickness of the blade, and start moving the knife in circular motions".

What giveS? I haven't seen any1 doing circular motions...and as far as i know.. *i could be wrong*... but aren't all FK knives convexed?

Production fixed blades invariably come with crappy sheaths.....

Its a PITA.

OK! I just picked up my knife! I feel like a kid again and Christmas just came early! Right off the box I was initially surprised with how solid the knife felt in my hand. The grip and feel on the handle feel really good although I wish it had finger grooves. Out of the box it is shaving sharp. I tested it with my firesteel and it works even better then the striker that comes with it. The only problem is the zytel sheath. The sheath itself is great and just what i need. The problem is in the handle strap. It does not fit well around the handle of the knife. I have to struggle to close it and open it. This can be an issue. I will change it asap to possibly Velcro. any suggestions? lastly, the DC4 sharpener I got just adds to the confidence I have for this knife. I can not wait, to get out and put the f1 3g through its paces.

yes they are convexed and I've heard of that way to sharpen, for more detailed explanations and tips
try starting a new thread in the Maintenance section and I'm sure you'll get some good answers!

I've always wanted a Bravo-1 but never got around to it (having so many blades of that size)
they are sweet and well liked ;)

but I do have the S6 :D

Hi all, I am quite new to knives but am quite serious to purchase the best survival knife FOR ME. I know there are many great knives out there but the defining factor is its functionality with the user. I am a person that tends to buy once but buy right. That is why I am here looking for help as I am swamped with google links and every other tom dick and harry saying his word is fact and not opinion. What I am looking for are facts.

The knife I want above all has to have the hardest steel in the market. I need it to be durable and strong and last through years of abuse but still be sharp. Naturally the second factor is its sharpness. IT HAS TO BE SHARP. Third is the functionality. Since this is to be used as a survival knife, it has to be portable so I am thinking a maximum of 8" tip to butt. It should chop, carve, skin, stab, etc etc etc. Looks and price are irrelevant. PLEAS HELP ME FIND A KNIFE.

I think you just described a Busse Combat Badger Attack TAC
