I need help selecting a fixed blade for ultra-light camping.

I am a huge fan of the Mora Bushcraft Black and Bushcraft Forest. I could take either one for a week in the woods without hesitation.

I haven't done a lightweight trip in many years, but at one time I did quite regularly. I wasn't into knives back then, and I did all of my trips with either a Leatherman PST or a Victorinox Tinker as my only blade. I never had a need one of those couldn't fill. Especially considering you eat out of a foil wrapper more often than not on a lightweight trip.

A Mora no 1 would be my choice over the Mora 3, and would save a couple ounces over the Bushcraft series. The no 1 is a very small, but capable little knife.

I'm with pinnah on this, just my selection isn't exactly the same, but close.

If you aren't in a hurry, want a fixed blade that will last a lifetime, and have the budget then one of the smaller Survive Knives GSO's would be my choice. They are not heavy, though not Mora weight.
The reason I justify this recommendation, though its not utra-light enough, is the confidence such a well designed strong but keen knife gives. Don't go bigger than 5".

A SAK Victorinox Huntsman is my ultra-light everyday and day hikes choice. Sometimes a Leatherman Charge TTi but that is heavy and I only take it because of wire fences with trapped dog/sheep/deer.

As much as I don't particularly care for Mora's in general, a Mora Companion. I have several Mora's. I would skip the wood handled Mora for injection molded plastic as it is more durable and maybe a bit more comfortable to use. They are good knives. I just like something a bit more substantial.

My personal choice would be the discontinued Kabar BK-15. Light and strong. Second choice would be the BK-16. Own them.

Definitely would not choose a BK-2/BK-22.... too heavy and over built (own one). There are few instances that I would choose a BK-2 for anything short of civilization ending as we know it; and even then, I would have second thoughts.

You could skip the fixed blade entirely and go with your favorite SAK.... but I would want one (or both). But a flexible option might be a Leatherman Squirt and the fixed blade.
