I need help with a polishing / controlled patina job!

How'd the sanding go in the area around the studs? I'd do it too, but I figure either the blade doesn't get sanded next to the studs, or I sand the studs too.

It wasn't bad; if you do it, you may have to live with a circular pattern around the studs if you don't want to hit them as well. Personally I think it looks just fine, but I didn't do a one-direction sanding job, I went in a circular motion once I got to my two lowest grits, 600 and then 1200. It doesn't look very out of place. I also only sanded the one side of the blade, and the spine, the other side will likely be done once I get something better than electrical tape to cover the stamping.
