Hey, i've been meaning to make another knife. I just make them out of my garage as best as i can. I have many old saw blades. This particular blade is about the size of the design i want to build. Problem is i can't figure out what kind of steel this saw blade is. This blade doesn't look very old. It is a 10" saw with 36 teeth. All i can makeout is: Dewalt, Lancaster 10" RIP Part NO 126(could be wrong) RPM looks like 5600 and under that it just says 624.
Could anybody please help me identify this blade?
Thanks for your time.

Won't make a good knife. Very old and very large circular saw blades sometimes can make a good knife, but sometimes they can't. For the time and effort your going to put in a blade from that, give Aldo a call at NJsteelbaron.com and pick up some 1084 to make a good knife from.

Read through the sticky threads, lots of info about using saw blades and how/why it doesn't work well.

If it has carbide teeth on it then the body of the blade is probably not a good alloy for knife blades.

+1... Mystery steel = Fail... Start with known steel...

If you have a lot of them, knock or grind the carbide teeth off (if they have them) and sell them for scrap steel. Put the money toward a bar of nice clean new 1084 from NJSB
