I need members help

Maybe I'm strange, but I prefer #6 or #7 1/2 bird shot for home defense. At the range which justifies shooting an intruder, the pattern won't have time to open, so the shot will all hit in a clump, possibly still in the shot cup. A miss is less likely to penetrate multiple layers of sheetrock and hit your own family (or the neighbors) as the small shot loses velocity more quickly.

Glockman,
How is the recoil on the model 23. I owned a glock 19 and loved it, but I want a little more in stopping power, than a 9mm. I understand the placing of the bullet counts the most;) I heard nothing but good about .40, any disadvantages.
...Recoil?...Glocks don't have much recoil...The "plastic" frame and low bore-axis takes alot of the "felt recoil" out of Glocks. To me, the Glock 23 recoil feels like most other handgun's 9mm.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, forget a shotgun for home defense...The shotgun can be taken away too easily (due to the long barrel), it's too hard to handle in close quarters, and it takes 2 hands to operate...(You should have one hand free to push-off an intruder, operate a flashlight, turn off/on lights, open/close doors, etc...).

Glockman,
Thanks, I know my wife could handle the recoil if she can handle .45. When I am not home she is the defender and she said no the .357. She hates the fireball. Tomorrow I am taking her to the range to shoot a 21 again and maybe try a 23 and 22.

Well it official glock 21 is our next pistol. wife felt comfortable with it and liked it even with her small paws. I was taking with my dad he wants to know how you folks feel about the taurus 92

(accidentally posted a message on the first place. I don't know how to delete it). Sorry.
