I have a Public Defender that I got off the exchange recently and i really want to have some scales put on it.. I know Horton is out of the mod biz, so who else around here can put handles on a Busse?

Um, Busse does a pretty good job if you dont mind perfection.;)

Well, i sent an email to Garth, but have not heard back... :( That was a couple weeks ago.

I wonder if they're having email issues at the Busse shop - I sent emails to several folks at the shop over the last month or so, and never got a reply to any of them.

i agree with gravelface, just put one on yourself. it's not that hard to pin and shape a set of scales. plus it's nice to showoff your own handywork.

i have also sent email's to the shop and never got a response.

It is better to call the shop, emails have a spotty response rate.

Most any knifemaker can put scales on, just have to find one who will. Try Tom Krein, Bill Siegle, or Bark River.

Garth answered my PM in less than a day. Try reaching him that way?

As a general rule, Busse is the way to go when you want OEM style handles. As has been noted several times in the past ~5 years, they are not making the rope pattern straight handles (which were the stock versions on the PD) any longer. I am sending in my SJT-V Frosted Jack to get new paper shoes (replacing the G10 ones it wears now), but this is easy to do when the shop is making the handle style in question.

A non-Busse alternative would be Tom Krein. He can put a scalpel edge on it while it's there, too. I'm having him do a Police Recruit for me.

We're not getting your emails, at least I'm not. Please resend them when possible.

I got one from you regarding the Killer Z and I forwarded that to Garth and Jerry cause I was not sure on the answer to that....

I have been getting alot of phone calls regarding that Garth has not responded to a e-mail that you all had sent...

Garth has been way busy with the launch of the new knife and doing all of the production issues that we deal with everyday and sometimes it take a little time to get answers about modifications, customs ect....

Let's do this...from now one if you send Garth a e-mail PLEASE CC me the same e-mail to amy@bussecombat.com at least that way I can try to get some answers or keep you informed on statis:):) (Just what I need more work..LOL)

Remember the Busse Combat office hours are 9am to 5pm Monday thru Friday so if you do not hear from me over the weekend..it is because I do not have access to my e-mails at work from home:)

Sorry Mustardman...did not mean to go off in a different direction on your original post....You know me always multitasking:thumbup: I will check on your e-mails Monday morning.

Amy - The killer z one is the only one that matters - I sent two copies about a week apart so I'm glad one of them got thru. It's not an urgent issue, so I'm not worried if Garth doesn't get to it right away - he's got more important stuff to do

Edit: I was typing that out on my iphone, and trying to keep it short - now that I'm back at a computer, I'll add a bit.

I wasn't trying to complain - if any of my emails were urgent, I would have called the shop or tried a PM. I was really just trying to help out since others seemed to be having trouble reaching ya'll through email, and figured maybe the email itself was the culprit. With the awesomeness of all the options available on the Tank Buster, and the mountain of headaches that must be causing, I'm surprised ya'll are even able to read the words on your computer screens, let alone answer emails and forum posts. My eyes would be so crosseyed from exhaustion that I might accidentally grab a case of Coors Light instead of an actual REAL beer at the package store  ;) :D

OH you...Makin fun of my Yummy Coor's Light:):) I work hard at making EACH AND ONE YOU HAPPY..but I could have 1 hour of sleep in 4 days..but I will grab Coor's Light...cause it is THAT GOOD

The funny thing is, I like pounding back coors light while I'm watchin' football and eatin' wings... but it's just too FUN to see your reaction when we make fun of the stuff :D

I would be glad to help you out. Just shoot me a PM on here...

Google is your friend. :p

btw, if you have Tom regrind the edge, then the Busse warranty may not apply in the event of future edge damage.

If I sharpen it only I wouldn't think it would void the warranty... not assuming to speak for Busse just thinking out loud here. If I do a regrind it DOES void the warranty.

Tom
