If I sharpen it only I wouldn't think it would void the warranty... not assuming to speak for Busse just thinking out loud here. If I do a regrind it DOES void the warranty.

jerry has said that it depends on how it was sharpened. assuming that the blade isn't over heated (over 900 degrees), the problems mostly come from extensive sharpening into the main grind, his example being a knife whose edge is brought down to .005" and subsequently used for high torque or impact tasks.

some people would call that a regrind, others would say that's just sharpening. any modification that a person does that directly leads to the knife breaking where it it would not have broken if left in it's original form technically breaks the warranty.

it's kinda hard to draw a definite line in the sand where the warranty stands, but that's the closest I've been able to come up with. always worth sending it in and asking either way.
