title says it all. I need some kickass slippers. Supreme comfort and durability are a must.
Any recommendations?

that may be the first time the words "kickass" and "slippers" ever collided in the same sentence.

well, not ass-kicking slippers but slippers that "kick ass" figuratively. :D
Slippers that I will want to wear at all times. I normally just go barefoot, but. . .

I was feeling progressively worse over the last month or so, and when I went to the clinic on the 11th, I ended up stuck in the ICU for 3 days doing my best impersonation of a pincushion, turns out that I now have type 1 diabetes, which means taking care of my feet. . . hence my desire for awe-inspiring slipper comfort.

now we talkin full foot coverage here or just a house slipper/sandal for loafin around the house in?

i love my reef slides...
very comfortable and have had them for a couple years with no problems. they might be more designed for the younger crowd(myself being early 20's) but the design is classic

also another one i just recently purchased that i really enjoy are the reef chewmacas super comfortable

Technically they are sandals not slippers, but my Josef Seibel slip on sandals are so comfortable I use them as slippers. They are way more comfortable than Birkenstocks, which is what I used to wear.

They sell them here: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/25335893/c/3.html

Here's what I've got but they have other styles:

yeah same with the reefs their not technically slippers but way more comfortable than anything else ive tried

Remember, folks, he lives in Northern Minnesota and it's the tail end of fall heading into winter.

I know a lot of people hate crocs but I find them quite comfortable and durable. I think they also have the rx line for people with diabetes. Plus they come in lots of colours.

I recently got some made by Sperry Topsider and they are really nice, $20. Come in individual sizes, not just 9/10, 11/12 etc. Quite comfortable and durable, imo.

I like the moccasin style with the sheepswool on the inside. There are already a couple of links up and I don't have any preference as to which one is bettter. The soft leather sole is more comfortable for lounging around the house than the shoe style. Also, your wife won't mind your feet on the sofa if they are the soft sole.

If you plan on walking out to the mailbox or getting some wood out of the shed, go with a rubber sole, though, because the plain old moc style with the leather bottom gets wet and dirty and provides no traction in even packed walkway snow. I know this from experience from when I was too lazy to pull on my boots.

My favorite slippers are my LL Bean Bison Double-Sole Slippers, Leather-Lined. Very sturdy, yet supple. Good stitching. The wife doesn't mind the leather bottoms touching the couch either.

Best of all, there's none of that stinking fur on the inside of the slipper. That fur just makes my feet too hot at first, and then cold and clammy when my feet have finally sweat to death. I could take my socks off and wear the furry slippers barefoot, but that makes for a pretty grungy slipper after a few weeks. I prefer to rely on quality socks (Smartwool) for temperature regulation.

Just don't wear these slippers outside in the snow. They're like a freshly waxed toboggan.

With the diabetes diagnosis, I'll second the recommendation for crocs. You really need something with support and a good arch to take care of your feet. Most of the mocs are flat.

When they went to all hardwood floors, my mom started keeping a pair of sneakers for indoor wear, like slippers. Took the impact and strain off the feet on the hard surface floors.

I've been using crocs for the last few weeks and they absolutely rock. They look ugly but they're so comfy and durable...and light weight beyond belief.
