what is BUCK's deal with the scales on a knife? will they replace or repair the stag scales that have popped off of a 110 knife that I have that did not have pins? if they'll repair it can they add pins to avoid this happening again?

If Buck did the work they will fix it... But I don't know about the pins... email Joe Houser and ask him or call pete...

dncfrost does not give any detail as to the knife
unfortunately there are a
LOT
of home tinkers that put stag on the 110
some like an few here do good work [say hi 'trax]
some on ebay and else were dont
if you send it to Joe at buck and he looks at it he can tell if Buck did the work
if not you will get it back as you sent it ...
if they did the work they will replace the knife \ or replace the scale
and replacement may or may not have stag if it was a user
but you have nothing to loose to send it in but shipping..

Wait a minute! If your stag Buck is defective, then it should be repaired or replaced with stag. Anything else would be a ripoff.

I call shenenigans!

wait moment ...
if the stag is from buck and jest come off i would think they would
my experance is
i sent in a white scale handle knife that has cracks in it
two things were on the paper
one they did not have scales to replace it and
two that they were a cosmetic issue from hard use and not covered
by the function warrenty which i can understand easly enught..
on reciveing MY knife back ..
I HAVE to agree with buck ..
cosmetic issues from use
should not be covered as these are caused by the owner !
IE: owner caused issue and not a warrenty issue..
now if the knife he sends in is NEW and un used and the scale come off and it is bucks work then
I have every faith that they will replace to his standards

dncfrost did not give any details!!!
new knife / old user knife / knife he got from yard sale / or other wise!
none but that a buck knife he has lost a scale..
so i gave general info to best of my belief and i have been wrong
as i said i am not a buck rep in any way..
jest love the knives and like folks that make them!;)

it's an older 110CS that I bought new in 91 it has never been used. I was just looking through some of my old knives the other day and when I opened the box the stag scale slid out in my hand. it appears to be just glued on.

Everyone makes mistakes.

Send it back to them with the box and papers so that they knew the deal. Should be able to make it right easy enough. Not sure about the pins though. Highly doubt it will need them since it's rare for them to simply fall off!

Please keep us posted. Pics would also be appreciated.

MY BUDDHA!!!! :eek::eek::eek::eek:
I have Congestive Heart Failure...that made me reach for my Coreg pills.

Yes, they are indeed "glued" on. I've never heard of that before (a non-user just falling off). I guess Elsie the Elmer Glue cow had a bad day.

Write Joe Houser about this BEFORE you send in the knife. This will give him a head's up that it's on it's way. Then, address the package to Joe himself so it doesn't get lost in the suffle.

I KNOW that Joe, Buck, et al will get it done right. Trust me, I'm from the IRS and I'm here to help you ;)

Well, you know Buck is setup in the business to do this type of work and know little tricks that will help.Do what you want. Just something to think about.DM

do any of you guys remember Paul Lentz? he was a great friend and nieghbor, this knife is the first CS knife I bought after Paul got me into buck knives.

wow you knew paul!!
you lucky fellow
so the knife has semental valus also
yes send it to buck let joe have it fixed..

i have taken up his attempt to some time have all spechal issue 110's
so give it up .. tell us some tails of him and you..

he was one of my father-in-laws best friends, that's how I got to know him. my father-in-law and I both got into collecting and going to all the blade shows with Paul. It about killed my father-in-law when Paul passed. If I'm not mistaken Paul's brothers donated about all his collection back to Buck or to BCCI I can't remember, I just know someone got a lot of really nice rare knives.
