Ok, so I have a particular knife that I would like to find and here are the qualities I want...
1. Needs to be approximately 5inch blade. + or - 1/4” is fine.
2. I do not want 1075 or 1095 unless it is coated to prevent rust. Stainless preferred.
3. Flat grind
4. Under 200 dollars

And GO!.....

The ESEE 4 can be found in 440C but I think it’s listed at 4.5”. As mentioned above, Id check out Bradford knives, and I’m not sure if Lionsteel offers anything that fits your needs, but I’d give them a look as well.

I’m sorry that my request has done such an injustice to you. How would you like me to re-write it? If it offends you then do me a favor and don’t reply.

I suggest you change the rules and get something with 10 inches of blade and in 1095 (now 1075). May I suggest the Ontario SP10 Marine Raider. You could let the blade rust for 20 years and then grind it into a huge knife.

What will be using the knife for? I ask because of blade thickness consideration.

One of the Cold Steel Drop Forged in coated 52100 comes to mind. It is cheap and indestructible.

Knife makers forms, or falkniven s1, or if you wanna go really cheap the varuskela juukripuukkoo 140 (my spelling is so wrong here but should be enough for you to find) it's a five inch beast of a knife avaliable in carbon or stainless, comes with a hair popping edge and you can literally beat on it as long as you want. May as well get a skrama whilst your there with your change

I think it is a fair request from the OP, most of us would want some particulars of what you want to use it for, etc so we can help and provide some viable candidates. Let's keep it friendly, there are good folks here with a lot of good advice. I have learned a lot here and met some nice people and makers. Now, I would look at the Fiddleback Production Duke, more than your budget, but you can find some, at times, with reduced price on the Exchange. There is one on the individual fixed blade right now. Also a lot of makers with incredible bargains.
