I need thoughts on 5.11 Rush 24 and 72

Does anyone know how the 12 compares in size to a camelback mule? Id like something bigger than that but not assault pack size.

Just going by specs, the Rush 12 is going to be closer to the Camelbak HAWG - they are both listed in the 1200-1300 cu in range. The MULE is quite a bit smaller, less than half the size at 488 cu in.

I have an older military issue HAWG that I got at the local ARMY/NAVY store and it's definitely smaller than the Maxpedition Falcon II (which would be maybe a smaller sized assault pack at about 1500 cu in).

I've been thinking about these two packs as well. Anyone have a pic with then 24 and 72 side by side? The 72 has a waistband, which I like, so I'm wondering if it's worth getting the larger pack and just dealing with the added size for smaller trips. Plus I'd have more room for Beckers.

Well I wanted another Kelty MAP to replace my old one, but now y'all have me eyeballing a RUSH.

I love their construction and quality. The Rush 72 was just too big for normal use. It is definitely more of a bug out bag. It was kind of the "I have the room, so I'll fill it" problem. I would probably go with the 24 if I had it to do over again.

And an extra suppressor. Not my idea, mind you. :D
I won't be able to get the extra supressor but I did drop off a barrel at my local machine shop for an appointment with the CNC machine for threading~! I will have it this weekend. Then I have a 16 in. barreled .45 cal carbine that is 26 in. total length and can take a 28 round glock mag and is really quiet.

For the Rush 72. I is more of a large frame type pack. I didn't realize how much larger until seeing them side by side. My becker is going to look so good on the side of it next week!

I have the 24

It's too heavy in my opinion for day hikes. I honestly wouldn't consider it if I weren't staying over night.

Honestly check out the MOAB 10(sorry no pictures yet). Same 5.11 goodness but a sling pack. Makes it easy to get at stuff inside on the go, mostly my water. Added perk! Half the price of the backpacks.

Yesterday, I found Snugpak Sleeka Force 35 packs for $55 shipped. They also have the Stamina 40 for $75, although it's a little big to be realivent to the OP's criteria. I ordered two more 35's due to the low price. Can't post a link since they're not sponcers but you can PM me if you want it.

Oh yeah, and I love Beckers ;)

man...now I'm torn between a 5.11 24 and a maxpedition condor 2. Thoughts? anybody can post side by side pics? they are around the same price tag, just wondering on overall quality and user feedback.

That's not late, that's necroposting. Glad you used search, but you would have been able to get the answer just as easily in the chat thread stickied at the top of the page. As far as the hydration bladder fit, I can't comment on the 12, but I am certain it would fit in the 72, so if they are the same size in that area, it should work.

I have the RUSH 24 in multi cam. Spent all day at the zoo. Daddy is the pack mule..I carried lunch and water bottles. Its funny how it expanded as
the day progressed (Daddy carry this). It was very comfortable. I am 6ft 1in. Everything has its own little compartment. I love mine.

Picked up a Sling pack and Mission Response Bag from 3V Gear and have been very impressed--build quality and functionality of packs costing twice as much.

I gotta say the 3 day assault pack from 3v looks like a heck of alot of pack for the dough, and I like that its 600 d, unlike some of the "Tougher" packs out there, which can be very loud, and very difficult to manipulate when cold, as well as abrasive. Derek and Moose had turned me on to this fact, at the gather, but I have experienced the difference first hand now. Sometimes heavier "Tougher" material, isnt necessarily better. The 3 v sling pack looks like a dead ripoff of the Maxped Sitka, though and the two strap bag looks like a pygmy falcon.

The Maxped Pugmy Falcon ll was too small for my needs.
The 5.11 Rush 24 is perfect. Well organized and big enough for everything I need.
It can make a good day pack too as long as I'm consious to not overload it. It's easy to do with this bag.

I have a Rush 12, kind of wish I had a 24. I have just enough room for all my EDC/bug out kit....but not a lot of room for anything else. Time to repack, and maybe get some more attachments. I will post up a picture in the morning.

I have a 12 and a 24. Larger is my lunch bag for work. Smaller is going to become a grab-n-go bag eventually. I may order another 24 for that eventually. The 12 really is a nice size, just not big enough for my work lunch bag nerds.

I have the 24. It's a good backpack, but I wish it's strap and harness system could be better for very tall people. I wish it was a little more like my SpecOPS The PACK. For instance, the chest strap is situated to high for me on the 24. On The PACK, they made it removable so that it can be lowered to a different position on the straps. The PACK is close in capacity to the 72, so it might be worth looking into if you can catch it on sale for the same price. The build quality is just as good.
