I like #2. For a defense knife you want it pointy, more so that #1. #3 is pointy but will be illegal to carry in most places and is a less practical design than #2. & if you dropped off the top guard it would be even more practical. And maybe give it a bit more belly? I am thinking something like this - no offense taken if you aren't looking for modification suggestions but I think this is pretty badass (#2 original top #2 w/mods bottom) New Boot Knife 2.JPG

Is the back swedge sharpened? I get the impression that at least some of the votes for 2, given the talk about laws, assume that it's only sharp on one side. If they've all got a sharpened back edge, then they're all going to have similar legal problems in some areas. I personally prefer 3 for a boot dagger. I guess it comes down to what the intended use is for that knife.

only number 3 is sharp on both sides.
