Seeing as you guys pretty much now where to find anything I'm thinking you may be able to help me in my quest. My wife has a favorite coffee mug that was recently damaged and it can't be repaired. She has had it for 14 years and our new granite counter top did it in. Granite vs. Ceramic = pissed off wife. She's mad and I'm getting the brunt of her anger. :(

What I am looking for is a LNIB or better Boynton Birthday Mug like the one below. eBay yielded no results. Any help would be appreciated. :)

Granite vs. Ceramic = pissed off wife.

Get used to it. Granite is harder than just about anything else in your kitchen and it has absolutley zero elasticity. Granite counters are very beautiful and very durable, but the downside is that anything glass or ceramic (including china) dropped from more than about one inch is gonna break. Even just setting a glass or a plate down has to be done with care. You'll learn... the hard way; I see that process has already started. Ya might wanta put the good china and crystal away for the next few months while yu get through the granite countertop "break-in" period. ;)

To find your mug, put it on your eBay favorites and wait. When it does come through, you'll be a hero.

My brother broke one of my favorite Steelers mugs a few years ago and I was livid , it lasted until I realized that *hit happens and that it might not have broke if I wasnt using it, afterall if it meant that much to me as a keepsake it shoulda been up on a shelf.
She'll get over it.
Good luck on finding your new mug.:D

I don't know about Boyton mugs but there's probably good ones and bad ones. High temperature ceramic is much stronger than low temperature, you can tell by sticking your tongue on an exposed area of the ceramic on the bottom of the mug, low temperature is more porous and will feel sticky. If you are ordering online you may want to ask.

I'll take a good British mug over almost any other unless I can check it personally (or it came from my dad's shop, he was a ceramist and his stuff was great).

I'm showing two pictures, first is some mugs from my father's shop, second is some British mugs.

Mugs are available in stainless steel, titanium, polycarbonate, I have all of those and all can take granite punishment !! My stainless steel one is double walled so is insulated. I decorated it with one of those vibrating markers . Mine has a canada goose , my GFs a polar bear and I've made a few others as gifts.

BTW, I'm sure you could find a local potter who would make a custom make a mug .

I found one on eBay. :D

KV: I am glad that you found one. Did you find just 1, or can you another, for backup?
