I need your prayers please....

Sounds like little baby steps, but it is something positive. Like others have said, try your best to keep a positive attitude for both of you. Will continue to pray for both of you.

I set little goals for her. Once her breathing and oxygen levels are better, I spoke with the nurses and doctors and they said I would be able to take her down to the first floor and sit outside for a bit. She really wants to do this, so right now I just wheel her around on the 9 th floor with the oxygen to get her out of the room for a couple minutes.

I massage her legs and body to help get blood flow and just move her legs around bit. I Bring a bunch of fruits and veggies everyday from whole foods.

Your a good husband, keep it up friend. Prayers are with you and wife.

It seems she is doing well enough that they will be letting her go tomorrow (Friday) or sat. But we need to find out what they are going to do about the pleurex (catheter) the stitches and the tube I think need to be removed.

Also we need to rent, lease, or buy a adjustable bed. Our bed at home is not good for her, I spoke with the nurses to find out if insurance covers this, or can I rent one of these beds.

She's a bit nervous about leaving, but it will be much easier for me to take care of her. I moved all my work load, to later dates, so I can come to the hospital in the morning, leave about 4:30 walk the dogs, feed the dogs, make sure my step son is o.k. Do some chores, take shower then be back about 7:00 p.m. And leave about 10:30 or 11:00p.m.

Good news.

Thank you everyone. We will keep taking this one minute, hour, day at a time.

As men, we are providers, fixers and think in black and white. It's times like these when a man feels the most useless, because there's not a damn thing you can do to make it better for your wife. After reading what you've done so far, brother, you are contributing more than you think. Hold fast and steady as this storm in your life moves through and always keep in mind that the folks here on BF are praying and supporting your family. I wish there was something that could be said or done to ease your pain and worrying.

I will pray for your family tonight. Sometimes we all need a little strength, and encouragement.

Duke medical found a place to rent a adjustable bed that is cover mostly under her insurance, suppose to deliver today, which is the 4 July not sure if that's true but I'll try to find out.

I finally got some sleep last night, I was nodding out from the hospital last night. I feel much better.

Your comments, strength, and hopefully words are a blessing.
Thank you

That is a positive note to hear she is doing well to be released. And that you have gotten much needed rest yourself.

Continued prayers to you all Krav.

Krav brother, I'm glad to hear the improvement. I think of you and your family and pray that your Wife continues to improve.

I have a Hebrew prayer, part of the Mi Sheberakh that we say every week for those in need of healing, translated to English:

May the Holy Blessed One

overflow with compassion upon her,

to restore her,

to heal her,

to strengthen her,

to enliven her.

The One will send her, speedily

healing of the soul and healing of the body --

along with all the ill,

among the people of Israel and all humankind,

soon,

speedily,

without delay,

and let us all say: Amen!

Much thanks, we got a adjustable bed delivered and she's home. Lots of meds, her mouth is thrush, and in pain from the chemo, small price to pay but at least she is here for me to take care of. All the meds are causing a lot of constipation also. We have a appointment with our main doctor Monday afternoon. I've been saying the st Francis prayer a lot.

The Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.

Thanks for the Prayer of Saint Francis Krav, haven't heard that in a long time, seems the older I get the more relative it becomes. ;)

Keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers and wishing you better days ahead.

On a slight side note Krav, if you don't mind me asking, did the insurance cover the bed, did you need a doctor's script for it?

Yes, it did, mostly. We pay $26.00 a month she has insurance through Aetna. No doctor script that I know of, I spoke with the nurse, she called some people then the next day (Lin care) was dropping it off. At first they said they doubt I could rent a bed and they didn't think insurance would pay if they did. I just asked if they could check into it for us. Amazing, ask and it is given.

Thank you very much ladies and gentlemen. Just got back from the appointment with our main doctor Jeffrey Crawford. He said the 1st round of chemo went very well, and that 5 more rounds expected spread out every 3 weeks. Next one is 7/21/14 outpatient. I'm filled with gratitude for everyone's prayers, smoke, and positive thoughts. I just wanted to keep you all updated and say thanks again.

That's for the update, glad the power of the community has an impact, you and your wife are in my thoughts and prayers everyday, take care of your lady, I know it's tiring, physically and emotionally but when you see she gets a little relief, feels a little better, gets a little good news is always worth it.

Just to share Krav, came back from meeting the neurosurgeon for my wife, she's been freaking out since the last mri came back and the orthopedic surgeon essentially said, "...your neck is really f**ked up, if you fall or get into a fender bender the whiplash could paralyze you for life" what an idiot. So since then my wife's been pushing to have someone do anything she just wants to start the process.

Now that's the bad, the good was when we saw the neurosurgeon he told her her neck and lower back are pretty bad but he's deadly with much worse, she has osteoarthritis and osteoporosis so he told her she needs to see a rheumatologist and build up some bone density before they want to attempt repairs so he told her see the rheumatologist, get treatment another density scan and come back in September, he told her to enjoy her summer.

She even asked him if she should take any special precautions and he tools get to not fall down a flight of stairs or get into any automobile accidents.

She can't go on the whiplash ride at the carnival but at least she can work out in the yard and putter around the house within the limits of her pain. Here she thought she was confined to bed and a wheel chair, after hearing the news from the doctor when we got home we took a walk down the 1/4 trail that runs along stream through my yard. She actually seemed a little relieved for the first time in 2 years.

Anyway Krav that's my update, I'm still learning to do laundry, thank God for my daughter but in the last two years I've become very domesticated, learned how to keep the house clean, :rolleyes: (clean is a relative term;) ) cook and I'm pretty good at it apparently. :) and become a chauffeur, I can't wait till she drives again, 2 years off the road has made her a tough backseat/passenger seat driver. :)

Take care my friend, keep the positive thoughts and vibes surrounding you and her.

T,erdelyi your family is in my prayers also, I thought we had it bad until I was walking past the children's cancer unit to get to my wife's cancer unit. Seeing the sadness and that thousand yard stare in the faces of the parents sitting in the hallway.
I'll never forget it. No matter how bad we got it, someone else has got it worse.

Just to let you know, that prayers from my home are a regular thing for you!

Thoughts for strength as well.
