I need your recommendation for a purchase.....

Keith--Thanks for recommending Greg Lightfoot's Pitbull. That looks like a very impressive blade. Anyone have any comments on it? Anyone own one, heard anything about Greg's knives? Any other sources for it to do a price comparison? I'm very tempted on this one.

I have several of Greg's knives, fixed and folders. His Predator was une of my first customs and I've posted about the Lightfoots a few times. I think the fixed blades are excellent in all respects. I prefer a grind other than chisel and he does make several different models with and without sharpened top edge edge etc. and can customize for you, although his wait is pretty long now. He is known primarily for fighters and tough knives - although Greg does use his own knives for hunting - wild pigs - by hand

I think his designs are quite beautiful. Check out his website at www.lightfootknives.com. Also check out the Sierras exclusively from Murray Haday at www.proedgeknives.com
Greg and Murray are two of the nicest guys you'll find, and Canucks to boot!

From what I understand the Pitbull is available only from Knifeart, But hey,$300.00 is a great price for that knife.

Paladin--

Before you focus in on one of the above makers, I think there's another you should investigate, and that is Jerry Hossom.

I think of Jerry as a swordmaker and a maker of large, fine fighting bowies, but he makes smaller blades as well. His name doesn't come to my mind as a maker of "tacticals" or "utilities", hence my oversight in my earlier response. But his blades are incredibly light and well balanced for their size, no matter what that size is. And I know of no one who produces a more sculpted, ergonomic grip nor a stronger, sharper edge than those Jerry is able to craft. Put these qualities together with the steels he is using, including CPM 3V heat treated by Paul Bos, and I would have to include him in any discussion of fine high-performance blades--no matter the category. You can see what he has to offer at:

www.hossom.com

A search of the Knife Reviews forum will return a wealth of information on performance testing of his blades.

Keith,
Just took delivery today of my Lightfoot Pit Bull, and it is an incredible piece of tactical art! I am VERY impressed! Hey, if anyone out there hasn't gotten one of these yet, GO GET ONE!! Very well constructed, designed. Couldn't be more pleased with the purchase, thanks for the recommendation. This guy knows how to make tactical knives! Also ordered Dr. Lathe's medium tactical as well, very impressed with his material on the web site, and his communication. Part of the purchase, as everyone knows, is dealing with a top-notch bladesmith who deals well with customers. The Doctor definitely does! I may also purchase a Mad Dog Pygmy ATAK2, but not sure for now. These two will definitely fit the bill.

Thanks again Keith, you made a sale for KnifeArt and a believer in Greg Lightfoot!
