This is almost embarrassing to admit...

I stumbled upon this forum by accident while looking to hoard more knives. I’ve been collecting some decent pocketknives for about five years now, and was starting to feel that I was going it alone. Never in my life did I think I would ever have want or need of a knife such as a giant Medford Praetorian, Microtech OTF, or Protech TR2, Reeve Sebenza, or a ZT ......but nonetheless, here we are.

This place is good, and it’s good to know that there are others like me. I’m learning a lot here, and I’d like to extend a huge thanks to whomever it was that created this forum!

Welcome to the forums!
And as you will soon find out
that everyone here is quite happy
to live out their wildest knife fantasy
in this dark side of the blackhole...
There's just no escape from destiny!

Welcome to the forums!

It's been about 4 years since I joined the forums.
I have definitely learnt a lot here about styles, steels, and sharpening of knives.

Enjoy!

Welcome. Say hello to a wealth of knowledge about any knife you could want to know about. Also, say goodbye to your plans to save money. I hope you enjoy.

Welcome

Welcome! Your post was a nice read with my first cup of coffee this morning. It's always good to see enthusiasm like this with a new member. Thanks for adding a little inspiration to my day.

Enjoy your new Gold Membership.

Welcome! Just be careful. This place is set up like a casino. I wandered in and asked to use the restroom back in the spring of 2002. 17 years later I've completely lost track of time and have spent all my money.

I wouldn't trade the knowledge and comradeship I've gained here for anything. It truly is special place.

OP, I am right there with you. I just joined about a week ago. I already bought a few knives from the exchange. My bank account will never recover. I think I have a problem lol.

I would say you should probably ease off a tad, look at the cost ranges and what those cost ranges usually buy for you, and of course consider the kinds of knives you believe you like and concentrate there for future fulfillment. It is very easy to spend $1000's on a new hobby and I don't mean firearms. With guns, you blink your eye and a thousand $ disappears from your bank account and that is often as single purchase.

As far as the forum goes, there are a lot of nice folks that frequent this place who enjoy themselves and give freely their opinions based on their experience with knives and other stuff. I discovered forums just prior to the time I joined BF which coincides with getting internet service that is faster than dial-up. I saw an article in a sporting magazine, Outdoor Life or similar....

I want to apologize ahead of time for abusing the comma. :D

Oh, you and I, we share a common abuse...

... I also abuse the ellipsis, but you'll get over it most likely.

Welcome to the forums. I started here when I had no kids. Now I have one in college. It's fun.

It's surprising to me that you got that far into knives without this place to serve as an enabler. Welcome, and except a significant increase in your purchases from now into perpetuity.

Welcome Irch Irch , it's one thing to buy spectacular knives, it's completely different when you learn about the knives you have and are going to buy. That's where this place is the most helpful, some good, knowledgeable folks reside here. Lots of good stuff to read and learn from. As long as you're having fun, not spending your grocery money, enjoy the journey down the rabbit hole.

Been a regular member for a couple of years, just joined the Gold Membership club a week ago. Looking forward to many years of enjoyment with all you.

Comma, splicing, isn't, a, crime! ;)

Seriously, welcome. Your wallet is gonna regret it, though, this place is expensive.

Oh, and now that you got a new paintjob and are a gold member...

Post some pics of your collection!
