I never knew those tabs on the side of SAK pull out

Wow, well at least you know now.

It took me about a month to discover the PIN hole on my Vic tinker, but the first time I held a folding knife was when found this red Vic classic on the ground when I was 3, and I guess I was very curious because I had the toothpick and tweezers out in minutes.

When I was 7 however my dad bought me a crosman 66 powermaster multi stroke pneumatic air rifle, and it took me years to figure out how to load bb's into it because I never bothered to read the manual ( shot pellets waaay better anyways )
I guess all of us have something were oblivious to for some reason or another.

Reminds me of the first truck I had that had no hi-low beams until one of my girlfriend's pointed out that their old farm truck also had a button on the floor that changes the headlights from low beam to high beam. I had the truck for at least a year at that point.

I can remember when I thought a vehicle didn't have high beams because there wasn't a button on the floor.

Liked the idea! Also wanted to mention that , iirc, Sakmodder has figured out a way to put a small fold out , for lack of a better term, drawer into the scales of Alox models. Apparently big enough to hold 2 or 3 of the small pull out items on SAKs, or whatever floats your boat. Sorry I don’t have the link, but it was posted on YouTube by whomever figured it out. One of my Facebook groups had a link, several months ago. Talk about cool! Don’t lose any tools/blades, and it opens with a small tab.
Thanks, Neal

To anyone who took a long time to discover the pin, that's pretty normal. Not finding the toothpick and tweezers, that sounds abit messed up to me.

No one knows how to use the little notch on the caplifter to strip wire? Come on someone must know the secret!!

I'm giving away the answer.

Try it out! It works pretty good actually.

I've never thought to use it this way, I've just pulled smaller size wore through the notch while pushing down with my thumb and that stripped it just fine.
This seems like it would work just fine if I ever needed to strip larger wire.

No matter what you find on a SAK, it's fun. Such versatile and well made knives. I always have a Classic with me - and I have way too many SAKs.

Enjoy the journey!

If they do come with a pin stored there, retention is terrible. I've bought a bunch of used SAKs, and less than 10% of the ones with that hole have had a pin in there.

Mine usually end up empty anyway.

Now that I think about it, since the Cybertool line was intended for computer/electronics repair, I remember the pin being advertised as a DIP switch setter or to stick in those tiny holes to reset things. So maybe it's only included in certain models. It's handy though. Since I always have my Cybertool (my only EDC that is truly every day), it's always with me. I use it for splinters, cleaning nooks and crannies of other knives, poking through clogged up superglue tips, etc, Basically anything you'd need a pin for. I even sharpen it regularly.

To be tweezers and a toothpick. I've owned numerous saks for years and just discovered this online.

I'm no boy scout but I tie all the best fishing knots.

I feel so dumb right now.

My first thought here was wow. I think pulling the tweezers and toothpicks out of whoever’s Swiss Army knife was in reach is about my earliest memory. 3-year-old me was probably responsible for some of those tweezers going missing.

That is hilarious!!! I’m glad you found them. I will admit that it took me years to realize that there is a pin hole for... a pin, accessible when you flip the corkscrew open. Thought that was super nifty!

I wish Alox models came with the tweezers and toothpick. I really can’t work out a reason for them to omit those tools, especially since I use mine all the time!

Can someone please post a picture of this “pin hole”. I just pulled out my sak that I think was the first knife I ever had. I opened the cork screw and can’t figure out what you guys are talking about. If there is something on this knife that I didn’t discover as a 10 year old boy, and haven’t discovered in 30 years of owning this knife I’m going to be shocked.

Really? Take a few apart and look at the construction. In the Cellidor models, the tools go between the plastic cover and the aluminum scale beneath it. In the Alox model, there is no cover, just the scale (or maybe there is no scale, just the cover. Nomenclature gets a bit murky here). Pretty hard to stow something between two layers of material when you only have one layer.
