Well, my anvil just arrived, the guy carried it into my garden on his own, the hero! and I'm convinced I can't move it to where I need without help, But I am however sure it's going to taste a hammer today, going to run out and get me some hot-rolled iron in a few minutes

Though I was fortunate enough to win this anvil on ebay, my luck ceased and I could not stretch to outbid another lurker for one hundred 10"x10"x4" firebricks. I've mailed him and hopefully he'll part with a dozen, the hole in the ground doesn't cut it for me :p , wish me luck...

I'll post pics as soon as I can maybe someone can identify the maker/year, and just for giggles, I'll include a pic' of the cutest smallest anvil I'm sure you've ever seen, hehehe

Good going!
Have fun today,
(lets hope the first wack and horn does not fall off on you, but that would make a great story...LOL)

dont forget to have someone video tape it incase that does happen. you might win money with country fried home videos!!!!! HEHEHEHEHE!!!!

That statement "now I am god" is a bit on the outside of the line.
I am sure you offended a few folks here including me.
I understand that it may be all in fun but a bit of caution in an open forum as to you statements is always wise.:)

Sorry about that mistake, only man can confuse his identity, lol

Hopefully the horn wont fall off, and this lasts longer than the cornerstones I salvaged from a demolition site that served in forging the blade pictured..that soon crumbled to nothing more than dust, heh

I'll be finishing the blade off this month, as soon as I can get a crucible and bronze shot, I didnt have much luck scoping a BF member who would be willing to cast me my furniture...
Then back to the fileworked spine, another day summoning blisters, heh

Well I finally figured a way of transferring Images from my phone to the computer after wasting all my credit to no avail emailing them to photobucket :grumpy:

You'll have to excuse the quality/conditions

I've yet to introduce Mr.Hammer to Miss.Anvil, I went out to get some iron, but passed a metal merchants hoping to get something credible, but the place was shut, so I decided I'll save my money and get a 4lb cross pien hammer and whatever scrap metal I can find at the yard tommorow.

Once again, My sincere appologies for the title and any cause of disturbance, but I am myself a student of religion, albeit a bit of a heretic, ;)

Nice anvil!

Lighten up guys, I don't think he thought he was God.

What an anvil. Truly impressed.

LOOOOKING GOOOD!!!
PS: I am the God of Hell's Fire.:D If you don't believe me you have to try my HT'g Relish.  HEHEHEHEHE!!!

Thanks Fiddleback :)
There was so many to stalk on ebay, but this one seemed to speak provenance, I like to pretend I am a connoiseur for geometry, and this just begged for a second glance, and a third, and fourth, but that's no excuse, I'm quite the nocturnal by nature but I'm a little disturbed when I found myself staring at this rather than trolling the net for porn at 5am, lol

In honor of this post, and the fire that makes steel possible, I just had some Indian George HT relish on a Pringle's. Hope I have enough beer to quench in... :D My woman's afraid of it, she won't go near it.

Aware, that thing is stunning. What's she weigh?

Aware,

You ole' dog. Good score on a nice anvil  Happy Hammering :D

I know you guys across the "Big Pond" eat mostly bland food, but, if you could get IG to send you some of his Heat Treat Relish, you'll learn about the "God of Hellfire" :D

I think I'll pass that, I'm already remeniscing a heavy night out a year or two back, a few friends though it would be funny to feed me a soup ladle of tabasco while I was asleep, I had lips like Angelina Jolie within five minutes, lol... I did steal his Fathers prized Monte Cristo from the display case the morning after.... full bodied vengence.

Her weight?.... A hell of a lot...heh....Don't think it'd be smart to pop it on the bathroom scales, even if I did find the strength to lift it.
around 13" high 6" wide and 32" horn to heel

P.S....The lil' harper is getting jealous, throw her some compliments, she's soo damn cute :(

If tabasco sauce did that to you, just a quick look at IG's Heat Treat Relish would put you in the hospital  :D

I could always treat the lawn with it though, worms seem to surface everytime I'm hammering....
Today I'm sure I could smell one burn in the charcoal..another surfaced, and
dragged its burned arse up, out the ground, followed by puffs of smoke and ash, no lies...lol...tough guy.....and again another... but this one was clever, it lay on the cool blower pipe.

I went a little crazy firing the forge with my modest pump today...got the iron to yellow heat..even blistered...ooooops... but I was determined see just how bright I could get things...if a few creatures get toasted in the process, so be it! lol

Be aware that staring into a very hot forge, or at hot steel ,can burn your retinas and damage your eyes. Wear forging glasses.
There is a bit of debate over the best type. I was taught about Dydimium, others use the glass blowers lenses, still others a light welding shade. The IR and UV from a forge can be intense.

He's just kidding.

Nice score on the anvil. Whereabouts in the UK are you? (I used to live in the West Midlands).

Bladsmth:
I'll have a look into some cheap and cheerful goggles...will surplus/mil-spec be fine?
I was going to get some of those for an expedition in Mongolia, and I'd like something aesthetic yet practical, but if I must I'll get some £5 welding goggles.

Flatgrinder:
I'm in Cheshire;I also lived in South Wales for nearly a decade, oh and I must excuse myself for the brevity of 'England.UK' in my profile, but I noticed most of you are American...

Go to a welding shop and look at the very stylistic welding glasses they have. They now look like sun glasses for movie stars.

BTW, Hopefully ,I'll be meeting the Queen in four weeks.
