As soon as I saw this knife I knew I would get it. Picked it up yesterday, and when my wife got home from work I showed it to her. Her response was, and I quote verbatim, " Wow, is that a custom?"

Great wife, great knife. Wish it was larger, but I cant have everything I want.

Benchmade scored high in fit and finish, blade was hair popping sharp ( no exaggeration ).

The axis-lock prevents the knife from being a flipper like we are used to seeing a la KAI, but Im ok with that. Will it get a lot of pocket time, I don't know, but I always research out knives enough that when I make up my mind to buy a knife, I intend on keeping it. Hell, they are all going to the kids eventually anyway.

Thanks,
John

Awesome purchase! Its on my list for sure. And all mine are goin to the kiddo as well, I think I was sold on it the second I saw it.

I love mine. The blade shape is awesome, and if you pre-load the flipper it can still flip with "authority."

The only thing I don't like after having mine for a few weeks is the finger grooves. Other than that...

Great knife.

The finger grooves are the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on this one yet. Need to have it in hand first and just haven't ran across one yet.

I got a good deal on one last week here on BF so I picked it up. I've been pleasantly surprised. It's very smooth, the blade shape and grinds are excellent for my everday needs, and the handle fits my hand better than I thought it would. I wear a large man's glove, but they're a tad large. I get three fingeers in the grooves and my little finger on the flat space behind the last finger groove.

I'm really happy with the 300. I've carried it since I got it and will keep carrying it for some time. I'm getting more into ambi folders and sending my handed ones elsewhere. The AXIS lock is a perfect example of ambidextrous functionality.

Sounds like a personal problem ;) I kid lol.
Thats why I haven't bought it, it looks too big for me. It's .6" thick. I have issues with .5" thick handles. Most of my pants have small pockets and the knives rip up my hand when I use that pocket.

I got one pretty quick after they came out, after all I love my Axis Benchmades and I love my flippers, so it must be pretty awesome, right? Well, as we all know, the key to a good flipper is a good detent, so it didn't quite live up to my expectations. Don't get me wrong, the build quality was top notch, the blade was shaped nicely, the handle was attractive and comfortable, and the price point was fantastic, it just was too different from my other flippers.

Had one for awhile but sold it. Loved the flipper action, but hated the knife thickness and not a big fan of the overly textured scale. Glad to see BM venture into a flipper design though. Hope they produce some more down the road.

Please consider getting the Contego first. I like the 300sn but if I had to choose between the two i would grab my 810 and never regret leaving the little 300 behind. That said, I do like the little guy, but I generally do not like small folders. The 300sn makes the Tenacious and the ZT 0350 look large.

The 300SN has become one of my favorite Benchmades if not my favorite knife altogether. Fits my hand perfectly. Love it!

Thanks for that. I was actually very much on the fence, but I think I'll take your advice. Especially since I found the 0350 too small for my large hands. Not only that but being such a Rift nut I can only imagine the 810 becoming a new favorite.

That is what I have found to be the case. I ordered the 300SN and Southard at the same time, and one is a great flipper and one is meh.

How does the flipper action different from a Skyline, 0561, etc? More effort needed to overcome the lock? Thanks.

Power, I handled one and with the Axis lock design, the start of the flipping action is weak feeling. There is little resistence in the pull force needed to start the blade opening as opposed to a ball and detent hole design as we are used to using on most flippers. The feel of the knife was ok for me, but I chose to pass on it. I'm sure it would make a fine knife, but I would handle one first. Hope this helps.

Yeah flipper is pretty weak for me too. I tightened up the pivot a little and that allows me to get a little more force on it, but I wish it had a better flipper action too.

Ya I agree with what has been said.
Jhicks is right, if you pre-load the flipper, that is, push down hard directly toward the pin, the switch directions quickly, then you have enough force to flip it open. The absence of a ball detent like the 0560 just lets the blade fall out only under the resistance of the axis lock omega spring. So after I got the technique of flipping an axis lock, I dont mind and I have just as much fun as flipping the other kind.
