Hey guys, I'm planning to go knife shopping this weekend. I have my sights set on a few options. My budget is between two and three hundred dollars. Here are my options at the moment, but as I said I would like to know everyones opinions or suggestions so my list could change.

1. Guardian Tactical Deltrix Nano
2. Zero Tolerance 0560
3.Spyderco Gayle Bradley
4.Benchmade 6800 Auto APB
5.Benchmade 9501 AFO 2

As I said, this list could change. I plan to use it for sd/edc. I prefer my blade lengths to be between 3 inches to 3.75 and I prefer straight edge but I am willing to go with half serrated. Any input is appreciated.

Zero Tolerance 0560 is IMO the best knife on that list... Only thing is they are pretty hard to get ever since they were discontinued a year or 2 back.

Personal preference rules supreme...but what YOU like. I'm not familiar with all of the models you listed, offhand; but of the ones I know, I prefer the ZT 0560. (I wish I liked the Gayle Bradley better...I used mine once, put it away, and haven't touched it in a little over 3 yrs (except to take some size comparison pictures)

I would not recommend the 0560. It has literally the most horrible ergonomics of any knife I've ever had or handled, hot spots out the wazoo. I would pick the bradley or afo.

Tough call. The GB1 is one of my all time favorite users, but the 0560BW has been getting a lot of pocket time... I say get the GB1 because it is the best cutting tool of the bunch IMO.

i think you would love the
WE Knife Co. 604E. it would match all of your requests and its just a sweet knife

I have a Helix Nano and I can tell you it is a fantastic knife!
Great build, amazing action and a cool design!
Good luck!!
Joe

Since you mentioned self defense, I would say the 0560 or 0630. For a pure cutting machine, Gayle Bradley1.

Maybe the GB2 would bridge the gap a little better for sd/edc than the 1?

I've heard rumors that "some people" might have brand-new Benchmade 9000 AFO's for sale around here.

"folding knife" and "self-defense" are unrelated terms. If "sd" is one of your prime considerations, pick up a fixed blade.

I am like Joe I have a helix nano in cf and it is just amazing.Has been my edc ever since I got it.

Owning a GB1 (actually it's what's in my pocket today) I find it's a great knife, if a bit heavy. I owned an 0560 tan for a few months, and while I liked it, it was too large and too heavy for my tastes.

I've come to prefer knives with blade length of 3", give or take. 3.5" is the max I'll go.

I don't fall for the whole "carrying a knife for self defense thing." I carry a knife for two reasons; Utility and the fact that I've carried one since I was 8 years old.

Maybe it's that I'm 6'4" 220lbs, but I've never been bothered or attacked in nearly 38 years on this planet. I've been to some of the worst areas in Chicago, seeing a buddy's band play down on the south side. Been salsa dancing in Humboldt Park, none of the bangers bothered me at those little hole in the wall bars. I find the best defense is to walk around with a smile on your face and be friendly to everyone.

To each their own. Of that list, the GB is my pick.

I would like to thank everyone for their replies so far. I understand that the chances of using a knife for sd are very small and a fixed blade is more practical. I just prefer folders over fixed blades.
