I prefer a leather sheath!

In really cold snowy subzero weather conditions - I use a Nylon sheath. Kraton is not flexible so could get packed with snow and ice. Leather would get soggy, heavy and not feel very well!

In wet conditions - I use a Kraton sheath. Nylon could get damp and heavy. Leather sheath might hold water, get heavy and get ruined.

In all other conditions - I use a Leather sheath. Smells good, looks good, feels good, tough and just plain awesome! Kraton sheath can be noisy in the woods as branches hit your sheath. Nylon sheath is ok and -perhaps- better if weight is a major issue.

So choice of sheath depends on operation context such as weather conditions, loudout limitations, etc. etc.

I HATE Kydex!! It doesn't provide a very secure fit, and if you aren't careful when sticking the knife in the sheath, you can put a ding in the edge.

Leather is the only way to go, in my opinion.

Depends entirely on the blade.
