I re-ground my Manix!

Well I decided to do my first re-grind yesterday. I love everything about the Spyderco Manix 2 but the grind. I absolutely hate the shallow hollow grind and had thought of turning it into a FFG a couple time but could never muster up the courage to take it to the grinder and potentially ruin my blade. Well I did it and I think it came out pretty nice for my first re-grind. I missed a spot by the plunge line on each side of the blade but I was pretty beat after 3-4 hours of grinding and I can touch it up later. I also need to take it to the 500 grit belt and get some of the deeper grind lines out. I just figured I'd show it to you guys in it's almost complete state.

Very thin behind the edge.

Overall I'm very happy with it. If you've ever thought about getting your hollow-ground M2 but didn't think it would be worth it, DO IT! It is most definitely worth it.

Thanks guys! I appreciate it.

I used a Craftsman 2x42 Belt sander with a Norton Blaze 60 grit ceramic belt to reprofile. It was a very long process and I was extremely careful not to heat up the blade. I did one pass, then dip it in water to cool it it and repeated that throughout the re-grind.

Very nice! They look like 2 completely different knives in the pictures!

FFG looks much better!

Hey guys I really appreciate all the positive comments. I was actually expecting some mixed emotions but I'm happily surprised to see all of you're awesome comments. Thank you:thumbup:

Nice one. Now lets see a 0560 FFG with added finger choil.

Hey hey hey, let's not get carried away now! The 056x has a lot more steel than the Manix does. Maybe after I do a few more re-grinds I might be able to tackle something like that.

If you guys have any re-grinds that you would like to share feel free to. I think everybody likes the look of nice full flat grind. Maybe we can turn this into a regrind thread.

I can't believe how different it looks after that. Amazing! I really like the look of a nice flat grind.
