I was out doing some wood chores with my son in the backyard.

chopping wood, batoning, shavings, whittling, just messing around and cutting stuff

I started with the BH10 and everything was fine and then my son brought me my BK2

I now realize just how much better a knife the BK2 is than the 10 at actual bushcrafty wood chores

I want forget that again

That is interesting. Share your thoughts more on the difference. I presumed that they would be pretty much the same other then the blade points.

chopping ability is bar none better

I do think the weight of the 2 is better, more blade heavy

I still have the factory edge on the BH10 and have convexed the BK2 edge so I'm sure that plays into it a bit as well, but the 2 just seemed to slide through the wood with less ease the 10

There is definitely more heft with the 2. the 10 I can see being better at light work, but overall, yeah, I would say BK2 for heavy use. I carried my 10 today, but will be going back to my 2.

Two reasons:

a.) I miss the weight and just "heavy duty" feel of the 2

b.) For what I have used my BK2 for so far... I really can't see using a special edition knife for. I will not be pounding on this knife with a 5lb sledge and sometimes work like that is required, so I wont be carrying my 10 unless i know I wont be needing to beat on it. For wood and forest work and for a day hike, I would carry the 10.

Don't you hate it when something Moose has been telling us for years turns out to be right. Damn, I know I do...

I feel the same way, the 10 is a nice compliment to the 2, but wont take its place. Mine is going to be my hunting/light hiking knife while the 2 will be the camper

dont get me wrong I have a camillus 10 that i have used, but for some reason I thought the BH10 would be more

I'm not knocking the 10's abilities but for the tasks I do often the BK2 is the knife of choice

I will carry the BH10 for day hikes and small miscellaneous tasks, but for the most part the 2 will get the bulk of the work

I haven't had the 10 out in the boonies yet, but just playing around with it, I can see a few differences already. The ramp gives you some interesting grip possibilities that bear exploring. Although similar in size, it has a totally different feel when compared with the BK2. The slight difference in thickness and weight have more effect than I thought they would. I think there will be a little learning curve, but it's got some real potential as an all arounder. It's not just a different shaped BK2, it's a whole different animal.

Yar. BK2, my favorite of all.

I call it my adventure knife, and I think about it like this. When my buddy gets home from Afghanistan (he's a wild one), after he meets up with the familia and the wife, I usually get a call. Goes like this, "Moose, I'm about 4 mins out, got some good stuff planned, grab your shit and lets go!"

The BK2 is the one I grab. Never know what we'll be doing, or where, but I know I got a knife that can handle it.

Ah, the BK2

This thread makes me feel better about not applying for my BH# sooner and trying to get a 10...I don't have a 2 yet, and kept telling myself I'd rather get a regular bk2 than a special edition Bk10... Glad to see I wasn't just making it up in my head lol.
