FOLDER!!!!

seriously Boss, i'm itchin for a folder, and if Busse doesn't come out with one soon, i may have to get another brand . i haven't bought a non Busse family knife in 5 years.

those ZTs are looking mighty fine, and they seem to be decently priced . . . any thoughts/suggestions?

Suggestions? Yep...

Hinderer XM-18. :thumbup::thumbup:

:D

I'm confused, you say you want a folder and that you have only bought Busse/family knives for the last 5 years. So you ask for any suggestions and Jaxx gives you the best besides a Busse folder and you say they are "expensive". You should be really used to expensive knives by now and don't think the Busse folder(if there ever is one) is going to be any less.:D

I have seen the XM-18 pop up several times on the exchanges and they are priced pretty fairly sometimes. I had a ZT302 and while it is a good knife it was to big of a folder for edc for me but you may like a huge folder.

I think if you want anything that will even come close to what I would consider a perfect folder then the XM18 is a perfect choice.

Just my .02!!:)

my 301/2 cover's everthing from splicing lead line's to dispaching java fern in my 35 gallon, note to the wise. do not ever let your drunk friend try and trim the filter off of a smoke. yes they are right around $200, but the use i have gotten out of my zt is worth 10 fold the time i've spent reading and typing about the busse folder. further more i have sent screw's, back spacer's, and spring's in to have them replaced, and have had no trouble. truly a fair product for a fair price! jerry brother i mean no disrespect, but until the folder is released i'm sticking with zt's.

Don't panic. . . . I should have something out in about "2 weeks!". . .. . . Just joking. . .

I would say that we are easily within a 5 year time frame. . . well, 5 years and 2 weeks!!!

Jerry :D

ZT knives, Strider (AR, RC, SMF, SNG), Dozier Workhorse, Carillo, Crusader Forge.

All very quality blades and expect to pay $300-$700 average.

No question here: go with an XM18. Give a call to Ryan at BlueLine Gear, and have him put you on the wait list, then find yourself a nice, inexpensive BM and wait until Ryan calls back. I paid retail for my XM18 about 2 months ago and it is a GREAT knife. You won't regret spending the 400$ once you get a Hinderer in hand.

I m going to side with THE BULLY and be the one to say...;)

Rat TRAP!

Ive had it and a 2nd gen xm18 and I wouldnt give you my Trap for two Hinderer's.( OK , maybe, but only because of the cost of the xm and the fact that I have 4 traps:D)

ITs just too big for me to consider pocket carry. It made a great prybar but was just too thick for me.

I was either pulling my pants up due to the weight or scratching and banging my hand while accessing my pocket.

You need to feel an X-18 before you through down the Funds.

I had one in tha pass around last year and hated it! The azz of the handle just drops away from your hand. Good for push cuts, and thats about it.
Super smooth and well made, but very heavy and felt awfull to me.

Get you a folder with a straighter handle...the Sebenza handle is hard to beat, the Striders have a great feeling handle, and sereral others.

Just say no to azz drop!

Jerry, IF you ever make one PLEASE don't let it have the azz drop handle:p

hi,,if your worried about some of these folders costing too much, check out the emerson cqc-12 and hd-7.both have titanium frame locks and 154steel blades.and both are well under $300.00.they are on back order on a few sites right now and are due in a couple of weeks.some sites have stock on the cqc-12.

I've had an XM-18 on pre-order with blue line gear over a year! Getting tired of waiting :( But there is a new smaller ZT knife, the 350 I believe, coming out soon at a very decent price point.

Hmm. I have noticed that possibility in the pics ... but, since I haven't been able to handle one, I'm just going to have to take my chances.

I got mine at a great price, so if it turns out the azz drop ruins it for me, I'm sure it can turn it over and seek out something else.

I already have a very nice Sebbie I picked up from a friend. Ken -- any other suggestions for a good, solid folder (custom's OK with me)?

On my most wanted list. However, I REALLY love my ZT 301. One heck of a nuclear folder. ;)

I literally sat on the BlueLineGear list for 18 months to get one at retail.

I'm proof positive that it does work.

However, I admit I also like the ZT 301. Had one, enjoyed it, passed it on to a nephew who admired it. Yes ... I am a sucker for family and especially for kids.:o

Sebenza, XM-18/24, SnG/SmF is definitely the trifecta. All fine tools in the familiar up-market production tradition, each a little different in terms of strengths and weaknesses.

The ZT 030X's are great too, especially for the price, but they are pretty big. It sure would be nice to see a true 3/4 030X with the frame lock and a thinner blade. The 0350 looks like it's going to be a nice knife, but with a little more focus on reduced cost.

Jamie, I fell in love with the sebbies years ago and havn't bought anything but slipjoints and a couple of nice William Henry's (for collection) since. I still have several of my old folders, but wouldn't recommend any I have over the sebbie. I did buy a D2 spyderco Para a month or so ago, I like it, but the clip's is in the wrong place.

The two must for me are... somewhat of a straight handle, and that the clip be in position so the hand rubs the back of handle, not scraping the hand.

I've had a few small and large sebbies without inlays, and the small wasn't wide enough for my hand. The day the Micarta Inlay Sebbies were released at Blade I bought the large and small as soon as the doors were open. Carried my matte pins with me and they offered to change them for me, so my lazy self let them. The small micarta feels great, and I've EDC it since. Its not needed as much on the large but I like the feel of micarta.

I really fondled the Strider SnG and the Kirby Lamert Inferno last year at Blade and loved both, but decided the SnG was to heavy, and really didn't like either as much as my Sebbies. I also like most of Greg Lightfoots, and Kit Carsons folders.

Did you pick up the CRK Umnumzaan last year at Blade Jamie? The blade is a bit thicker than the sebbie at .140, and it opened much smoother than a sebenza. I almost bought one, but didn't think it looked as good as the sebbie.

Right now my EDC carries are either a Large Classic Desert Ironwood Sebbie ,,,, or the massive ZT-301. Usually have a William Henry in my shirt pocket if I need a sharp edge but don't want to scare the bejesus out out the general public.
