Hey guys,
So today when I got home from class I had a package waiting for me. It was my long awaited Sebenza 25. I couldn't help but smile as I opened my package in anticipation. I ordered my 25 from Edged Specialties, the best place to buy CRK's. Travis is amazing and with every CRK I've ordered from him, he's included CRK grease and a Maxpedition razorshell knife case for FREE. As I picked up the 25 wrapped in wonderful blue cloth CRK provides, I immediately felt the extra weight, which to me is a good thing. As I unwrapped the blue CRK cloth I finally revealed the magnificent 25 which is very unique looking to CRK fans especially due to it's large pivot, extra finger groove, lack of a machining hole, and lack of a lanyard hole (it can still hold a lanyard). The knife opens with fluid like smoothness and locks into place with a distinct and wonderful sound because of the new ceramic lock up/detent ball. I immediately noticed the extra width the new blade has. That with the newer and larger pivot and oversized ceramic detent/lock up ball has made an already bank vault like lock up into a fort knox grade vault like lock up. Although previous sebenza's like the 21 have a treated lock bar face that is amazing at preventing wear, the new ceramic ball lock up provides a hard surface which will prevent wear. The finger grooves fit perfectly and the knife in the hand feels so nice with no hot spots what so ever.
I wasn't sure about how I would react to the lack of the bushing system but now that I've had it in my hand and felt how good the action is, I'm a fan. One word that I would use to describe the 25 would have to be "stout". This knife is strong in every way. Now, we have the 21 which is a hard use knife which in my opinion makes the 25 a really hard use knife. CRK also provides all the tools necessary to remove the frame screws which use the same size tool as the 21 and also provided is a larger tool to remove the larger 25 pivot. The larger tool provided is actually manufactured by Wiha which is known for extreme quality in it's tools.
I am going to break in my knife for the next couple of weeks and when I take down my 25 to replace the old grease with new, I am going to make a detailed take down video. Also, for those who care, I am going to make a comparison video comparing the large 21, small 21, and the 25 for those who might be deciding on which one to get. When I post my video's on youtube I'll post the link on here. I also wanted to say thanks to all the CRK guys on here for helping me decide to buy my CRK's!
