my first knife that i got was a kershaw vapor! i was in colorado at walmart and i was like man i could usea knife out here. the knife that got me into knives was the kershaw packrat i loved that knife so. and the knife that got me addicted was the kershaw breakout 7000. it was light slim and really fast. my first really expensive knife was a sage 1 and i still carry it and love it so much. well i just had that on my mind and wanted to see how everyone got into knives.

god bless

My first "expensive" or "good" blade was a Kershaw E.T. Urban Camo. I traded it off ( which I really regret now). Before that, it was a couple cheap chinese folders. After the E.T., I haven't been able to stop and Kershaw has turned out to be my favorite brand. :D

My first knife was a little SAK my parents got for me when I was 6. They had my initials engraved on it, and I know it's still somewhere around my house. As for the knife that got me into knives, I guess that would be the Ka-Bar USMC as it was the first decent knife I had.

My first knife was a carbon steel equal end jack that my dad allowed me to adopt from the tool drawer when I was about 8 some 50 years ago. It got lost during a move some years later. But, I've carried a pocket knife of some sort ever since.

A little Klein tools lockback, a gift from one of my uncles. Still have it, probably worth upwards of $10 but I would not sell it for 10x that amount.

my first EDC and knife that got me addicted to knives was my benchmade ambush, i still have it and use it.

My first knife was a cheap barlow style pocketknife. My first "real" knife was a Case that my dad gave me back in the mid 70's, and I still have it.

My first knife was a cheap SAK that one of my dads friends gave me (I was maby 8), my first "real" knife was a case slimline trapper that my grandpal bought me when I was 13, I carryed it until I was 17 and lost it while fishing. The knife that started my love and search for one handed folders was a smith&wesson I bought for 10 bucks from a buddy of mine.

I've always had knives even ad far back as elementary. The advantages of growing up in a small rural community. I have no idea what my first knife would have been it sure but I still have my most treasured old knives that my parents or family gave me. One I used to carry a lot and can tell is an old Buck knife with Bass Pro Shop logo on the side. I would have gotten it on an old family trip to Branson that we swung by Springfield and my first ever Bass Pro. I know for sure I was between 8-12. And I got a boot knife that got stolen a couple of years ago and the previously mentioned Bass Pro logo knife.

Another memorable knife I had when I was younger was a Kershaw Lever Action. I also still have a tiny little Old Timer that has a liner lock that sticks up. It's certainly the only one I've seen like it. Also have my Old Timer stockman that was just like the 2 my father would always carry.

I'm only 27 but my how times have changed since even I was in school, teachers used to ask to borrow my knife and now the kids would be expelled for even having one on campus. The kids were better back then too tho. There weren't stabbings, rapes, or gangs atleast around my part of the woods anyway.

First knife that was actually MINE?

I think it was a Smith and Wesson HRT double edge knife. Stabbed myself in the side of the hand with it, and a couple months laster the tang broke in the rubber handle. My mom still has it and it's good enough to open mulch bags and cut wimpy string.

First REAL knife?

Probably my Woodman's Pal machete. I still have it, but it hasn't been used in a long time :(. I might bust that thing out soon, I feel bad for it.

My first knife was a Victorinox Bantam. Used the hell out of that thing every day for years until I lost it. :(

The first knife I bought for myself was a Kershaw Cyclone. Still use it all the time, works great (although the blade is getting really worn down...). The Cyclone is definitely the knife that got me into knives as a hobby. :D

Case 2 bladed pen knife with a bail and jigged bone scales, from my dad whin I was 11. Still have it.

I also have the first two knives I bought, a Christy and a Mora. They were $1.50 each.

mine was a swiss army knife of some kind. im pretty sure i lost it or totally destroyed it. the oldest knife that i still have is a buck 303 that my grandpa gave me in the mid 90's.

My first knife was a Cub Scout pocket knife my Father got for me when I earned my Wolf badge. Still have the knife in my collection.

The first knife that was a really good one and got me khooked on knives was an antique Puma Hunter. Belonged to me Great Grandfather and was given to me as the first born Grandson of the First born Son. I still have that in my collection as well. Would not sell either of them

I was talking to my mom the other day and she saw me looking at a knife on the computer. She said "the more things change the more they stay the same", i asked her what she meant and she told me about the first time i cut myself with a knife that i had completely forgot about :) I was about 5-6 years old and apparently i found my brother's(who is about 4 years older) SAK and went out to carve something in the tree in the front yard. I guess i cut myself pretty bad, and i lied about it so they didn't know what happened till several weeks later when they discovered the knife sitting in the dirt under the tree. I had completely forgot about it until my mom reminded me of it.

Its amazing the stuff they remember about your life that you loose track of over the years.

My very first knife was a Vic Huntsman that my dad got me when I was about 8 years old. It was eventually stolen when I went to summer camp and left it unattended.
The knife that got me into knives was a CRKT G.W. Hawk D.O.G. that I got when I was 15. I still have it although I don't use it much anymore.

The first time Mom and Granny let me walk to the corner store by myself, Mom let me break open the piggy bank and told me I could buy whatever I could afford up there. Western Family Market had one small rack of toys, and there right within arm's reach was this little double-blade folder wrapped in shrink-wrap around a piece of carboard with some cheesy printed hyperbole about what a great knife it was. Of course, at 6 or 7 years old, I really didn't care what it said. Bought it and walked home just so thrilled with myself!

Mom said, "OK, you can keep it, but the first time you cut yourself, I'm taking it away."

A couple of hours later it was gone forever. It was hardly even a cut. More like a scratch. If I'd have been tougher and not cried, I'd probably still have that little piece of crap. But I was hooked. Even to this day, whenever the lady in charge lets me spend money, I still go buy a knife! LOL
