I Scratched My 940-1 Blade

My usual path, depending on how nice/expensive a knife may be, is to kinda baby it until I do something to (inevitably) dork it up….then it’s a user, baby!

I only really regret it once….the time I left home for the backcountry with a brand spankin’ new Bradley Bowie sitting on the top of my car. 😞
That’s almost as bad as leaving a baby carrier on top of the car!! Uh…a NEW baby carrier of course…oh, yes - without the baby. Some scratches are worse than others.

You use a knife, it will get scratched.

We're talkin bout, PRACTICE SCRATCHES?!?

Seriously though, I get it. Gary provided the solution by giving it a fresh brushed finish. I use a similar 3M product that uses sandpaper mounted on a sponge-like material to put brushed finishes on some of my knives. It's not as daunting as it may seem, I even find it meditative. However, the fact is, if you use a knife it's going to get scratched. Embrace it. Eventually, like many of us, you might even come to appreciate the look of a well used knife.

Love that clip.

Without a photo from the OP no one knows whether the "scratch" is one that should simply be dismissed as the first of many to follow, or if it is a signficant one that warrants an effort to remove it.

Some don't mind/expect scratches, some do mind/don't want scratches.
IF the OP is one of the latter, and the blade was not replaced under warranty, the OP can pay Benchmade for a new blade.
It was relatively inexpensive last time I checked.

I had a knife that was a user and I wanted to gift it to someone, and because it was scratched, I paid Benchmade to replace the blade.
Now the new owner can make all the scratches he wants, and they wont be my scratches, and that was my situation.

I scratched my Browning Citori the first time I took it out hunting. I've scratched it even more in the last year and put plenty of dings in the wood. Most of my knives don't fair any better. I wouldn't want to live any other way.
