I can only imagine what would happen to a non-police officer getting pulled over for anything and seeing the Waki in that location in their car.
Very nice blade/sheath combo.
Nice patrol bag too... Hatch?
And finally, if you actually got the ok to carry that on duty, you're Sergeant's either really laid back/cool, got a big brass pair, or just a little nuts.

Might come in handy for dispatching severely wounded animals along the roadside, might shock passerby though.
It's perfectly legal as its not illegal to own, transport, use, etc. a sword (in Texas).
Now, carry it concealed and you are definitely breaking the law (in Texas).
State law allows knives up to 5 1/2 inches carried on your person.
However, some municipalities have "additional laws" restricting blade lengths, type of knife, etc.

Even if an action is legal it does not mean you won't be arrested and have to explain yourself to a Judge. People have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon because they sprayed someone else with a garden hose. I may be wrong in this assessment but if a police officer pulls me over with a Waki displayed just like yours, and is in a bad mood, I am going to jail and they will find something to charge me with.
A pistol sitting on the passenger seat of a car is not 'on the person' but will certainly get you arrested as it is within ready reach and easily accessible.
