I still want a BK13 in 1095!!

KA-BAR's site actually states that it's 1095cv. I'm sure it's a misprint.

The hrc on the page that lists 1095CV is in the range of the remora's 440a I believe, which lends itself to being a typo. Either way, I'd love a 1095 one!

Common kabar.... People will buy them! They are amazing little knives and can do a lot, but imagine if they were in that awesome 1095 cro-van.... Ahhh...yeah.. :) common guys speak up! Tell them that you want one too!!

Even a limited run would be great!

The BK13CP is listed on the KA-BAR website as being made of 1095 and that is correct. The American versions have always been made of 1095 and have been listed as such. Perhaps the confusion is from the promotional Chinese version that was discontinued 5-6 years ago.

Now that is weird. The KaBar USA made BK13 has always been advertised as 440A everywhere I have seen it. Its in the Becker blade database as 440A. Its listed as 440A on Knifecenter.com and everywhere else I just checked. I have bought 5 KaBar BK13s from KaBar and their packages were all marked 440a.

I still have one in the package. Here it is I just took this picture.

I also have one of the Chinese ones. They look very different and are marked China.

Mauser - There's an easy way to determine if your favorite knife is made of stainless steel or not. You just need to perform the cutlery DiHydrogen Oxide test.

Take one of those "440A" knives and drop it in a bucket of water.
Swish the knife around in the bucket every day to re-oxygenate the water.

If the knife turns red, it is 1095. If it does not turn red, it might be 440A.

You're welcome. :D:D

Haha you had me for a second there. I was prepared to donate one to science. :D

This is getting weird...

It sure is.

Hey All,

Not sure if it is the jet lag from the last few weeks on the road or that I spent the day I posted on this at the Army Air Force Exchange trying to convince them to stock the BK14 that is made of 1095. My first post was correct...and also wasn't. The current production BK13's are 1095 Cro-Van. I checked with our shipping department today and they should be shipping from our warehouse as we speak. That is why KA-BAR.com and the current KA-BAR catalog have them listed as such. The previous American version was 440, but to be honest with you we have been talking about a 1095 BK13 for so long I must have convinced myself only the previous Chinese promo knives were 440. I apologize for the mixup and for the delay in addressing this; SHOT has been crazy already. When I get back I will giveaway a few of the new BK13's to make amends. I already have a contest in mind...

Is that why the most recent pair I got were coated in some kinda clear finish?

Thanks for coming back and straightening that out. I sure am excited to get my hands on a 1095CV BK13!

Wowsers! I should've waited! I don't have any idea what to use my remora for, so I can't see the logic in getting another, but cro-van!!!

This is the best possible outcome to this thread. Not only do we get a 1095 BK 13, we get it soon!

I need to find someone I can be sure I'm getting the 1095 model from so I can get one ordered.
