I stripped, now I have a bare ASH...

I really like the look of the stripped look. I've never stripped one yet, but I've got one I'm considering doing, just hate the throught of screwing up a $300+ knife in case I mess it up. I have to agree with your statement that the ASH1 is the ultimate in representing the Art of the Busse. When I get my last two in from Amy, I'll have 10 of them. "I'll post a pic when I get them all together" If I was going to spend $$ on Busse, the ASH1 is my top choice then comes the HOFSHs and the FBMs...
Great Job on yours, may have to get some pointers on how to strip and bead blast..

FB, dont be afriad to doo it, its dead easy!

Just spray some paint stripper on the entire knife (I also sprayed the slabs) and leave it 10 minutes, then scrape it off and wash it under running water. Do it again if need be, I had to with the SAGE. I then simply bead blasted it in a glass bead cabinet and that was it....flawless!

Jerry and the team should offer uncoated blades or a kit for modification abilities... :)

Gundy that is real tempting mate and I might just take you up on that later. At the moment the knife is still to new, so I can not part with her just yet.

Thanks Gundy for the motivation. I think I'll take out my black canvas mag handled one this weekend and try my hand at stripping the green paint off. If I may show my ignorance here; what is a glass bead cabinet? Is this something I can make one from parts from a Walmart or do you have to buy them from a special shop? $$$? If I can do my Ash 1 good, I would really like to try it on my #68 smooth blue handled HOFSH from the last big Ganza. I think it would look really good with a shined up blade. Have you ever smoothed your grips on an ASh1? I saw a BATAC a guy did on the sales forums that started out with a blue normal handle and black blade and he smoothed the handles and stripped the blade.. It was beautiful when he was finished with it. In his case, it INCREASED the value of the knife from a basic version..

Fb, I used a bead blast cabinet with glass beads. Its a type of abrasive. I guess you could build one, but it would be cheaper to buy.

I have never smoothed my handles as I like em rough and grippy...
