I Struck Gold or Should I Say Fatwood

Nice. I have a small supply in a large ziplock sack. Smells great.

I have another source, safe and sound! I have a large round/stump cut that is so hard it will bounce an axe or knife right off (I bent the tip of one of my very sturdy knives on it! It would not stick, just bounce off!)

When I need it, I will go and split it up with the maul, and wedges. It is safely resting in my folks back yard!
 
Here is a quick video of how it burns.... Just a few thin slivers, and it burns long and hot. I'm going to try to build a fire tonight (if time allows) and do a video starting it with a ferro rod and fatwood. Click on photo for video!

Looks like a very unassuming and random stump. I've got to start my investigation for some of my own soon...
 
That's gotta be the best fatwood find I've ever seen. Nice straight pieces, with tons of "fat".
